If there were ever to be a concert where the entire population of Earth crowds around the base of a mountain and the artists play from the stage that is the very top, this song would be on the song list. And this would be the part of the concert where the sky turns black with storm clouds and volcanoes start erupting fountains of lava across the horizon as lightning strikes all around. Beer can be purchased at designated drinking areas (the beer has been replaced with napalm)

It just resonates with my soul. Brings back a lot of good memories, and a lot of bad, bitter sweet ones. But you need to lift your head up, and push on forward through life. Every experience, good and bad; made you who you are. Those experiences make you stronger, but at the cost of slowly becoming numb to the hardships around you.

There's only two games that left such a deep permanent imprint on me, that I look apon its levels with the same nostalgic comfort as a childhood home.. Dark souls (Lordran), and Doom/Doom II. I was playing doom since I was 5.. Maybe it'll be one of the last games I play.. And that'd be just fine by me.
@ShreddingDragon2 ай бұрын
@@squishybrick I get what you mean. The land of the ancient lords and the UAC Mars base are home for me too ❤️ Some of the rooms and spaces in Dark Souls and even Doom can have a soothing, nostalgic effect. Like a sigh of relief when you enter. Like, okay phew, made it to a comfy spot, time to chill for a sec. Hard to truly describe, but it’s a 100% real emotion. Video games, man.

@@ShreddingDragon Nothing like just beating a horde of demons by the skin of your teeth, realizing you forgot a key or switch somewhere, and just backtracking through the swathes of corpses you left behind.. You just don't get that feeling in any other game BUT doom.. That feeling of being reminded just how badly you wrecked this place.. That feeling of pride, comfort, and safety. All your hard work, so neatly displayed all before you to walk past as you tour the level for some extra pickups or a key. That's partly what made doom such a comforting experience.. The backtracking was never frustrating, because of the display of corpses you'd left behind, so you never felt 'forced' to get familiar with the terrain.. It was a fully organic side-effect of the process. Same with darksouls.. You never felt 'forced' to backtrack, and whenever you did, it was never unpleasant to do, and gave you time to really 'settle in' to the environment.

Hello ! I hope you see this ; I love this piece to bits, and I really love this version. I'd love for you to check out Meganeko's version he put out for the 30th anniversary of the game, I adore the fact that both of your covers went for the lonely, powerful feeling, yet they're so distinct.

Thank you so much! Beautifully said. Thank you. ❤🤘 I truly hope you're enjoying your playthrough of Doom, and high respect for playing the originals first! If you choose to play the modern ones afterwards, you're gonna find so many cool references to the old games there. I'm actually really curious: How are you liking Doom, as someone who is playing it for the first time in 2024? How does the game feel for you, has it surprised you in one way or another? What's best about it?
@abidchy44795 ай бұрын
@@ShreddingDragon Oh, I'm loving every second of the levels. It feels like I'm experiencing an immersive documentary of how video games have come so far. Like, in my current gaming sessions, I have Red Dead Redemption 2 and the classic Doom. So going back and forth between these two games makes you appreciate the craft that has been put into them despite the different generation. The surprising thing about Doom is the community behind it. Guys like you and the gaming youtubers (shoutout to @Decino) who are still releasing mods, wads, doing playthroughs and making music covers keeps the game alive. Just this recently, id software re-released the game with a super-bundle running on new engine and I'm stoked to try out the new 16 levels. You know what they say...Doom is Eternal! 🔥🤘

Same game, but it has a completely different soundtrack (dark ambient by Aubrey Hodges), colored lighting, and everything is just creepier!

@@ShreddingDragon Yo! Damn! The PSX version is really dark and gritty. It's crazy how Aubrey Hodges' score and lighting gives it an ultra-nightmare dead space type of experience. Playstation folks were smoking something back then.... Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dinocrisis and this? Holy shit!
