your first stage should contain your SSME's and your SRB's and the second stage should contain the launch clamps. If you're using prime vector guidance on mechjeb2 it won't release the clamps until your thrust vector is greater than 1. for good rendezvous timings i would suggest launching at a 28.99 degree inclination, this is what was used for gemini 8 and means you can launch your second rocket into a same-plane parking orbit within an hour, that part is optional though

I like the design of this new "super-salyut", a mix of the salyut 7 and the MIR, it's a pretty realistic depiction of how a soviet spsce station from the lmid 70's could have looked like if the space competition between the USA and the USSR had been kept like in the mid 60's. Continue doing this type of builds, I love them!

@TheOrbitingBrick KSP can be tedious some times, I regularly take breaks from kerbal that can, it's normal, and doing so generally leads to new ideas for new rockets poppingupin your head. I would like to give you some ideas for builds for when you return to KSP: maybe you could try building a 70's style lunar station with a bigger scale version of the LEM to supply a lunar colony, or you could also try to build an Apollo style mission to Mars (if you haven't found out yet, I'm a big fan of the Apollo program and the space race in general).

Nice idea to test the probe for harsh cold environments (far small moons) in a accessible place first, because it would be real sad if it stopped working mid temp drop. How about SeaLaunch video? I like how you used a Saturn MLV to launch the super skylab as it would be the only rocket capable of doing so. I think this is somewhat of a realistic scenario if NASA had kept geting founding, maybe if the soviets had successfully landed on the Moon too. Although I have to say that it's not very likely that the crew would have been launched on a modified Saturn V rocket as it would have been too costly and complicated to build compared to a Saturn IB.
@TheOrbitingBrick4 ай бұрын
Firstly, thanks! I'll admit that most of my videos are just intended to explore the concepts of these interesting rockets, with little regard for what actually would get funding. Secondly, the main reason I didn't use the Saturn IB is that I had done it before.
@franciscoborrashidalgo77764 ай бұрын
@TheOrbitingBrick For being a simple concept of a bigger Skylab it is petty good and somewhat realistic, although I know it's not your aim to create something 100% feasible. Don't worry about the Saturn IB thing, it's always fun to experiment with new things in KSP, and that's kind of the thing you're supposed to do. Comments aside, I would like you to do a similar video about a bigger Salyut station. It would be interesting to think about what the soviets would have come up with to continue competing with the US in space.
@TheOrbitingBrick4 ай бұрын
@@franciscoborrashidalgo7776 Bigger Salyut sounds like an interesting idea, I think I'll do that! However, if I do bigger Salyut, then the next logical step would obviously be larger Mir.
@franciscoborrashidalgo77764 ай бұрын
@@TheOrbitingBrick If you ever do a bigger Salyut, I would like it to be asembled in orbit like the MIR instead of being launched in a single launch like skylab as it was the method the soviets ended up applying with their space program
