I stopped developing chemical prints years ago and I'd like to do it again. One question: I remember that for multigrade paper was advised to not use a safety red light as red as multigrade is sensitive to that color but rather a brownish color specific for multigrade. is it still true? thank you

ILFORD MULTIGRADE papers can be used with most common safelights for black and white papers. We use a mix of dark brown, red and orange on site

great video, and a fantastic exemplar of using MF and LF cameras in a genre not usually associated with them, and showing others you CAN, and get the boon of all that quality, it takes effort to shoot, but, having just experienced this "magic" moment myself, totally understand it, the slow thinking of 'will it work?' and knowing your film, camera and the subject so it will work!! and having the extra art of developing a print... PRICELESS.

for over £20 a kit to develop only two films, that is extremly expensive. You better look for a kit a little over £30 but you can develop over ten films.

It's not designed for those whoa re developing a lot of films as it just wouldn't be economical as you mentioned. However it's perfect for a beginner or somebody who only shots occasionally.

I just shot and developed a roll of mystery film that was rolled in the mid 90's by my younger sister when she was doing photography at school; all that was written on the can was "1998 400 asa". After I developed it, I was sooo happy it turned out to be hp5+. Most of the shots came out fine (my bad on the ones that didnt); impressive due to it's age and random storage. Loving film. It's ace. Thanks for this video!! It's not often manufacturer's show this kinda stuff.

This video is really nicely made. But is it really worth the effort? I mean, imagine you have 10 films to develop, you would spend a whole evening doing so
@Ilfordphoto

If you had more films then you'd use a bigger development tank,so it wouldn't necessarily take much longer.

Don't ever ever send your film to them. I did mine years ago and they lost my film. They insist it's the delivery problem but they can't provide a proper tracking number. What a joke! Send your Film to a legit Lab. Don't trust unprofessional people work on your negative film like this people.

Recently, a friend asked me why I exclusively use Ilford products: their paper, film rolls, and developing chemicals. My answer gave him food for thought: Ilford has been there since day one of analog photography, and using their products is the least I can do as a user to show gratitude for all their work. The best part is that their materials continue to maintain unmatched quality. Although this video is 5 years old, and I'm just seeing it for the first time, it moved me deeply. If I had the chance, I would hug each one of their employees because even though it might be just a job for them, they're not only contributing to art. They're also bringing joy to people like me, living here in Panama City.
