BTW.. on our way back from Iowa my dad began to feel ill.. the first rest Stop we stopped at he took a spill but we eventually got back on the road and got as far as South Bend Indiana.. we had all we could handle to get him into the hotel room so we took him to the ER there to get him well enough to get him home which we did.. the following morning after we got him home we took him to the VA in Syracuse NY where he gets medical service where he is now recuperating... As it turns out he had a mild stroke,mild heart failure, fluid in his lungs and Pneumonia... If you could keep him in your prayers I would appreciate that.. thank you..

I grew up stopping at TTT my grandfather owned Morgan tire we provided all their used tires from early 80s - late 90s I got to see it in its hay day back then they had truck terminals in Van Horn TX El Paso , Deming NM a small one in Lordsburg NM and TTT. The TTT was the nicer of all of them. Back then the TTT Shady Grove in Road Forks NM and the Petro on east side of El Paso were the top dogs in my opinion in that part of the country. We. Delivered tires as far as the Truck terminal in Indio CA it was pretty cool two. The Union 76;across I-10 from Petro in El Paso was no slouch either but it was really a greasy spoon compared to Iron skillet

Have never made it out Arizona way, but this is reminiscent of the old Dixie Trucker’s Home truck stops in Illinois. Individual bunk rooms, shower rooms upstairs, tv lounge and a FANTASTIC old-style restaurant with a “Truckers Only” section. The one in Effingham is long gone, was a good place to stop for the longest time. Far better than the “travel plazas” were stuck with now….
@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE2 күн бұрын
I know…. I think it’s just plain rotten that they don’t give Drivers a good sit down home cooked meal stop! They take your fuel money but give nothing back in return to make life brighter for yas. Shame on em 😡

Virtually all buses before 1981 have the usual Spicer 4-speeds. It was about 1981 when the Fuller 5-speed came about for buses, which is much better, although in a bus, I prefer automatic. I love MCI coaches the most, especially the dash 9 model. Trucks, buses, beer, and women for me! Hope you come around the South Bend area in that thing when you get it fixed up.

Hey buddy, didn't see a mention of this channel so check out Bus Grease Monkey. He works on mostly busses with Detroit's especially the old Greyhounds also does chassis work on MCI, Prevost etc at his house in Tennessee. You can learn a lot from his channel. Congrats on the new ride. Long time subscriber. Love your videos. Peace

Aaahhhhh Yeah a Classic MC5 . I know them well. Good buses . Detroit 8V-71 spicer 4 speed. Double clutching all the way.not you want to make it Greyhound in Pepsi livery red , white and blue. Some MC5’s did have black around the windows to match the MC7 and in coming MC8’s. What seats you get rid of please sell. Do not throw away. Those seats are so hard to find. For those that wish to make a vintage coach seated again. Best video ever
@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE2 күн бұрын
Thank you so much Bryan. Don’t worry I’m keeping the seats. The livery is tempting but the original 60s version would be proper as well. Decisions decisions 😬🤷🏼♂️

when I started in 80s every major truckstop had a room with a load board usually a big room with telephones all around probably 100 phones and we still waited in line to call a broker .
@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGEКүн бұрын
That's so cool to picture but probably not a lot of fun back then compared to the ease of phones today.

Well, the bus is certainly a new direction for the Trucker's Lounge. The only thing I'm still a bit sad about is that you don't have any more Astros now with the sale of Blue Jay. I grew up seeing Astro trucks almost every day of my childhood and teenage years, since I grew up beside a GMC truck dealer and garage

Make your coach more driver friendly with a 9 speed or 10 speed........or Allison automatic . In Australia about 2008, most tour busses had manual trans . 8V71 power train with straight in drive ? Since I have 2 daughters in Tucson area, I've eaten at triple T several times....in that older dining area shown !
