Nice fix 👍 That eject button might need some contact cleaner and maybe new belt would make the disc tray open/close mechanism more reliable in the longer run, but seems to be working now even as is. The upcoming video about your 2003 device sounds also very interesting, looking forward to watch it. From the silver colour and mirror finish front panel styling, your Philips dvd player is probably about same age as my dvd player, which is United brand from 2004, still working as well. I guess they did pretty good products back then, as my Philips VHS VCR is also from 2003, and still working too. Over 20 years without any repairs is pretty well done for such a complex electro-mechanical product like VCR. I certainly used it to my full satisfaction back in the day, so it's not like it wasn't used much :D Lately of course it's gotten much less use, but I still try to watch my old tapes with it at least few times in a year to give it some action. Looks like moving mechanical parts get stuck if they stand still for a long time, lubcrication dry out, etc.

Dont spray anything in to a dvd or cd player Dorian-it usually causes the laser unit problems, if you take of the piece that goes across the top of the disc (the top clamp) then this will allow you to remove the loading tray completely, and you can then wash it to get all the old grease off, and also clean all the worm gears etc, then just reinstall the tray, and fit a new belt, but you did get it working after all

I’ve been married on 25/06/ 1966 that’s 58 years now and miss my hotpoint washing machine so much, when hotpoint finished making them was the worse thing for me, it was easy to use, wash,rise and spin , put I didn’t have to bend down to remove the clothes ( this at 77 is difficult) Thanks for the memory’s 😘

Very nice I have the Hoover Version in green here that I got about two years ago now. Like it way better than my Bissell with the stupid bladder system. Still have the Bissell but don't use it.

I've fixed my own SW6, which is for all I know the only weather sealed Walkman body with Dolby. The real struggle was aligning the body with controls once everything was fixed as there are a lot of toggles, the radio dial, the indexed shaft to keep them right where they need to be and I am very accustomed to service normal Walkman(s). Besides I have an AIWA Cross Trainer with digital radio to fix next in the same category... challenge's not yet over.
