Yes. You can get a job. You don't need to put it on your resume. Unfortunately being fired is more common today than ever and it's as old as time but, yes, you can definitely get another job. People do it all the time. My step mom does well, tends to be promoted to manager at jobs she's had. But, even she has been fired. It happens.

Kayla, that's cool but you are not taking time to list the different ways to sell your project management skill as a freelancer. I mean except getting hired to work on a project we can do more right? You mentioned something about notion, I need details. I don't know if you did a video on that. And I'm sure that you know many other services that we can sell as a project management, I will like to hear about this side please. I'm a project management student who will start his master degree soon and I'm looking for ways to monetized my knowledge online, that will be a good way for me to practice, to learn even more as well and build my portfolio. Your videos are great tough, that was still helpful. Thanks!

just got into a coordinator position as a graduate with a salary of around $40k. I am, however, assigned to undertake minor projects by myself and liaise with contractors and various parties to get works done which impressed me as i didnt expect this level of responsibility. I enjoy the challenge and i get my qork done, and i believe i am in a great position to eventually get into pm as my line senior pm and director have both mentioned. However, i do struggle socially somewhat. Given that construction pm is a very socially demanding environment, I find it harder to build relations with people, which is one of the main aspects of pm. I sometimes feel like im in the wrong field, as most people around me have no issue with this, and the people that do are often in relatively lower positions within the organisation, effectively sort of reflecting their social ability. I can see that im heading this way, and im trying to improve socially as i know i have it in me, but damn is it hard to bring to the surface.

Yes! Pray before you take another job! You want to be where God and the universe wants you. Any old employer that tries to hurt a former employee has problems and the people that believe them are all of the same accord. Your job is to move on, pray, manifest, and be open to other opportunities. Your life is not meant to be at another person's control or whim! You have a distinct purpose on this planet!❤

I got fired from Burger King and Whole Foods…..now I work at a place where we’re building the machines that build microchips. Companies don’t care as much as u think, my advice if u get fired don’t apply for the same job at a different company (depending on what u were fired for) try something else and build ur resume to make u look like the jack of all trades

I got fired a month after I told my regional manager that I would not be lying to patients in our optical office to increase sales. I said to her that one of the lies she wanted me to tell patients made me think that if I were a patient, and she said to that to me, that she was a snake in the grass that couldn't be trusted. This was after 7 1/2 years, ABO Certification, and promotion to officer manager and still seeing up to double digit percentage gains in several target product areas. Thanks, Erica and Rx Optical Laboratories! Don't worry; I think they were doing a little cleaning out anyway because they sold the company within a couple years because the family didn't want what grandpa had started back in 1947 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In a couple years, I should be making double what I did there. I've never gotten an offer in optical since then though.

I have been fired for bad performance, but I have photos that it's just not true. When I ask what exactly I did wrong. They couldn't tell me. Not to mention I only got compliments for my work and customers loved me. One did tell me he noticed me and thinks I'm not valued enough and I would be better off working in Denmark THEN coming back home to Germany (I live in Northern Germany) it just sucks because of mixed messages. And not only that I made friends there, which is important when you come fresh from another country. It's hard. And so it's not like they took my income and purpose away, they snatched my friends from me. And we are all spread out so just meeting up is strained.

I have been a SAHM for 10 years. I have a bachelor's degree, I'm scrum master certified, and PMP certified. In your opinion, should I pursue a project coordinator role to start, or should I just go for a PMP role?
@kaylamcguire
@kaylamcguire Ай бұрын
This is difficult to answer without knowing more about you, your goals, and your comfort factor of entering the workforce after a career break. In general, I would suggest applying to jobs where you have room to grow. If the responsibilities of a project coordinator role seem easy for you, then I would recommend looking for work the next level up. On that same note, if experience is something you lack then perhaps a project coordinator role would be a great complement to your certifications and a good entry point for full time work. Hope this helps, and wishing you the best in your job search! Kayla

@kaylamcguire
@kaylamcguire 2 ай бұрын
It’s very difficult to land a client on Upwork or other freelance platforms which is why I don’t recommend it first. Start with your network first. Use freelance platforms sparingly. It’s not uncommon to send upwards of 50 proposals to land one. It’s a numbers game.

Hi. I got 1year contract job. Although initially I was not performing well for first 2 months then later on I picked up very fastly and my manager started giving more work and I really enjoyed it.. But the thing is I dont speak. Am introvert and I dont like talking too much or gossips whereas my manager always and always talks and gossips. Today, after 6 months they fired me saying am not attentive and not performing well and am not meeting the business standards. I was so hurt and cried. My manager said its normal to fire people. I wish you find best job very soon

Thank you for this video. That was an interesting take on the overall introduction to a Project Coordinator role compared to a Project Manager. In the USA, many employers provide titles to employees without real qualifications, and when tested on their ability to perform the REAL load of the title, people fail to deliver. This is also true when hiring managers (not HR staff) must learn to provide the proper expectations from someone in that role. I subscribed, and I have great expectations 🙂

Thank you so much for this comment! I appreciate your feedback. I try to create my videos to contain helpful nuggets and actionable tips, so it’s great to know I hit the mark here. I also agree that it can be difficult to understand what’s actually involved in a role, aside from the bullet points listed in a JD. Thanks again for watching, let me know if you have requests for future topics!

@kaylamcguire
@kaylamcguire 2 ай бұрын
Hi - thanks for watching! I made another video called 10 Places to Find Work as a Freelance Project Manager and it provides specific examples. My recommendation for startups and small businesses is: surveying your personal network, joining local small business groups like One Million Cups, and joining FB groups for small businesses. There are also Project Management placement groups like Talent Cheetah, but that's not specifically small business and startups. Good luck!
