Thanks for the video, nice looking frontier. I bought a 2022 frontier king cab. I can't decide cab high shell or snug top hi-liner. Are you happy with the cab high shell, ceiling height, etc? Thanks again for making the video.
@caddisguy
@caddisguy 3 ай бұрын
I think having more height on the topper would be more practical. Adding another 6 inches would open up all sorts of options, whether just for extra comfort or building out a storage system with slide or drawers that doubles as a sleeping platform. It's something we might upgrade at some point. For now it does the job, just sleeping on a mattress with plenty of room to sit up or even kneel. We are both short though lol

I don't expect it to be perfectly accurate, but I have used it to test dozens of radios and the power, frequency and SWR always reads around where I would expect (except for the BJ-318 of course, but that is a common issue with these radios) Perhaps just like the BJ-318, some of those Surecom meters are faulty.

They stopped making them for Canada this year. Actually the only 2024 trims we have to chose from are PRO4X and PrO4X Luxury crew cabs. I started looking too late into 2023 and there weren't any new PRO4X king cabs left, but I found the 2022 with only 6000KM on it. I hope they start making/selling them again in both countries. I'm guessing they weren't selling as fast, but for some people having only a 5 foot bed is a deal breaker.

Mine has gone solar charging up to 445w input, I only have a 550solar panel so maybe I'm at the limit of my solar panel or solar input I don't know but it's a plus formit to take in a little extra. I don't like it doesn't say I'm hours how much time you can run it or how many hours left to fully charge, the LCD screen lacks info when charging of input and output watts. Biggest problem I have is it doesn't top off the battery. Example

I was pretty sure it was a TRAM 1185 in that video but looking it it I am second guessing myself if it was a Bingfu. Either way, the TRAM 1185 is the better out of the two. I did another video comparing the Nagoya NMO-72 and Nagoya TB-320A. The best out of all these (as far as reach is concerned) was the Nagoya TB-320A but it is a larger antenna (I wouldn't want to drive around on the highway or in the bush with it) The Nagoya NMO-72 is a really good antenna though. Similar size to the TRAM 1185 and Bingfu but works better. The mag mount for it is larger and sold separately. The NMO-72 is the one I use now when I'm mobile in the Jeep. Hope this helps!

@@MrRoman-lo6ih you're welcome and Merry Christmas to you as well! Congrats on the radio. Speaking of emergency groups, I have used this radio on some of our local emergency simplex testing nets. At 18-20W, it does quite well. Over 50km without line of sight. I also have a portable yagi antenna (the split boom Arrow II antenna) and with that, I can do the same (well over 50km) on low power on the AnyTone and even a hand held set to low power (1W) ... just figured I would mention it in case this would be useful for your emergency group. We will do a video on the Arrow II sometime. It's a great antenna. I have been using it a lot on my balcony and when we're out camping, mounted to a tripod.

Nicely done. I was just gifted (although not sure how much I appreciate it at this point) a 240 from a friend who had locked it up. Piston was pretty beat up so I replaced it along with the case. The seal on the bottom didn’t have a gasket to transfer so I tried to simply lay in some liquid gasket. That did NOT work. Any idea on where to source those little narrow gaskets that join the top and bottom of the cylinder? I enjoyed the video. Thanks!
@caddisguy
@caddisguy Жыл бұрын
I am not sure about cloth gaskets for the 240. The 240's don't come with cloth gaskets from the OEM like some of the other Husqvarna models. There might be some aftermarket ones. If not, you could probably get the material and trace/cut it yourself. I'd be interested if I ever need to re-do this one, another 240 or similar. The liquid gasket was the most difficult part for me. I tried to just run a good bead on the lines at the bottom of the cylinder housing, but ended up just smearing a thin layer on the entire bottom of it. Then of course putting it back on and screwing it in without letting it rub or touch anything. That was the hard part for me. If it helps at all, I used Loctite 518 for the gasket and it is still holding up great. In my case I consider myself lucky to have got it good on the first try. I can see how it could have taken more than one try (a job I'd prefer to avoid doing twice) One another thing I'll add, I remember looking at the temperature rating on this stuff and thinking I better make sure I have the saw tuned right, that I am not running lean or going over 9000rpm in the cut, because I don't think the gasket (I could be wrong) would hold up if the saw overheated by much. Luckily the carb was "almost" spot on. I think I just needed to open up the low and high jet a little bit (like 1/8 turn) to mark it perfect (it was bogging in the cut initially) Still running great though!

Might do a another saw soon. Same guy who gave me the 240 has an old 66 from what I gather just needs a new piston/cylinder, fuel lines and carb kit. Figure I'll rebuild it for the cost of parts as a favour for giving me that 240. If I do I'll film that one.

@caddisguy
@caddisguy Жыл бұрын
Backcountry access is getting difficult on the mainland, particularly Region 2. Our old stomping grounds for bear and blacktails was gated in 2021. A generous buddy suggested an area for us in 2022. It was loaded with very large black bears. However it was gated (illegally according to the NRO which is still looking into it) a few months later. We scouted a couple more places in 2022 that were promising for bear and blacktail. They were both gated this Spring, so we headed out to Region 3 and found some good idea. It's nice to explore more and more, but can get a little exhausting and discouraging. As you probably agree, scouting and finding those great little tucked away and productive areas is one of the most time consuming aspects of hunting. Getting one or two gems shut down, no big deal, but when they get shut down as fast as you can find them, it's hard to keep up, but one thing for sure is we're never going to quit, because we're stubborn and we love it!! :)
