It mainly focused on my favorite years of collecting - that time when everything in the world of Mario collecting was fresh and invigorating, and I was hoping I could convey some of that magic in this video. But at the same time, I think it’s good I didn’t portray everything through rose-colored glasses and still included some of the darker realities of my experience as well.

@@SMBHQ764 Yes, I have a prototype of a Super Mario Galaxy Boo baseball and two different prototype Piranha Plant charging cables. I also have some preproduction stuff and maybe more I’m forgetting right now.

I’m a bit sad, too. Making these videos has been a big part of my life, it’ll be so weird not making them anymore. Maybe I’ll be back to making different videos eventually though. I’m glad you had fun while you could.

I wasn’t a subscriber for very long either, also mostly just having issues I got from garage sales and flea markets. I started in the Wii era, but it was great, I feel like the magazine was the best it had been at that point since the NES days.

Me too, it was a great way to have all the relevant Nintendo news straight from an authorized source. No spoilers, no Xbox, and far fewer unsolicited opinions.

A funny story, there: I originally used the sound effect in my 2021 Top Ten video simply because it was included in my movie editor and fit nicely, but at the time I had no idea eBay was using it (maybe they hadn’t started using it yet or maybe I only used eBay on desktop up to that point, I’m not sure which), so when I eventually did hear that eBay notification on my phone, I was like, “hey, I recognize that!”

There aren’t many items in this video, but what’s there are all good ones. I don’t remember ever seeing that little battery operated one until this collection, and a few of the others I’ve rarely seen turn up, either.

I do have most of the US Mario cartoon VHS (plus a few foreign ones) as well as several versions of the 1993 movie on VHS. I’ve had my eye out for the LaserDisc release but haven’t found one for a price I was willing to pay.

I didn’t even question why that game was shown there, but it would’ve been cool to get some more obscure characters in the set like that. At least Furuta did go on to make a lot of less-merchandised characters like a bunch from Super Mario Odyssey.

@@smbcollector Yeah. And at least we got a stylus set for Bowser's Inside Story that consisted of characters original to the game/series, including Fawful (the only mainline character in the set was Toad, but it was specifically a Blorbed variant from BIS) A lot of interesting stuff in this video tho. Kinda funny the sheer amount of different releases for those gummies that consisted of one of the most oddly specific quartets of characters. And I remember constantly wanting to have Power-Up energy drinks because having my go-to drink be related to Mario felt very satisfying as a Mario fan. BTW do you know if they still make that anywhere? I really miss it.

@@fawfulthegreat64 Soooo many gummies, it’s kind of ridiculous how many versions they made. I was just talking with my brother about whether they still make those energy drinks or not and I don’t think they do. I feel like I was just seeing them for sale at Five Below and at the mall, but honestly that was probably years ago.

That is very much something you have to live in fear of now.

I think the picture of Mario with a keyboard actually originates from the Mario Paint instruction booklet.

I’m pretty sure I’ve shown all the cards from this collection now, but I agree that info on them can be hard to find.

The Dr. Mario series has always been a favorite of mine, it’s always a pleasure when I can add more of its merch to my collection.
