Ted, as a woman can I be a member of the military company? Was told no a few years ago based on a NR rule that women were not allowed to portray soldiers. Hope this rule has since changed as it violates title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights act if demonstrations are done on National or State park sites. Thank you.

Audrey, during the Civil War many woman served under the Army of the Potomac, disguised as men. The rule that your stating does violate the 1964 Civil Rights Act. However I don't speak for the entire regiment, I'm just stating a fact.

Great interview! My company, the 8th Connecticut Vols. is part of the United States Volunteers. We are similar to the NR, although we have three regiments + Artillery and Cavalry. My company is in the Third Regiment, which does authentic events alongside the Liberty Rifles. We will see you on the field at Homespun Waterloo - 160th Antietam.
