My part of Brixton South London listened to such a verbal & neural conversation yesterday as I watched this interview. I'm 58 now & been a true Gregory fan since 1979, age 14. I had years, almost 40 years of criticism as a caucasion female fan of Reggae, lovers & similar, especially G.I., even though I was a Gossips Soho raver many years. The hate against such sweet beautiful music was absurd of the mid '80s, yet more absurd of 21st Century, though I enjoyed albums & concerts of Gregory all through the decades. Yesterday, the absurd argument as to my happening to glance out of a window as I Sang along with a lyric as most fans would, evolved into a history lesson on minimising being hypocritical. I was human trafficked to Brixton South London, where the expectations of local white racists is a quiet acceptance of ethnic cleansing via dissemination of the kind of addictive substances that ironically hurt Gregory's voice & career in his latter life. Gregory's quote "only love can conquer war" was a favorite of his. Today I started the notes of a project on creating improvements socially to diminish domestic violence via improved supportive principles such as education & Victim Support Mechanisms. I cited Queen Camilla's KZbin speech on this specific topic as I watched it yesterday and this interview of yours, quoting Gregory's wise words "only love can conquer war" as the inspiration of the project's working title "Love is". Between the summer of 1979 and yesterday, Gregory is still such an inspiring Artist in my life. Love, Theresa 🙋♀️☯️
