Can I ask a question, why isn't Bit-Error-Rate or MER for example used in LTE signal measurements? Like how they are in Cable Internet or Digital TV? As wouldn't this be the best quality indicator? It seems like RSRQ is calculated simply using signal strength

Where the Non-RT RIC is located?Inside EMS? Thank you
@itelcotech93123 ай бұрын
Yes, non real time RIC is located somewhere in the data center along-with NMS as latency requirement is not very stringent.

Is it that the general purpose hardware can eliminate the requirements of BBUs on field sites?
@itelcotech93123 ай бұрын
Here General purpose hardware means by just adding SW, we can configure any new function. Now Baseband functionality will be the prime requirement. With disaggregation, this functionality splits between central and distributed unit.

Hi, how can modulation reduce size of antenna?
@itelcotech9312 Жыл бұрын
Hi, If baseband signal not modulated with high frequency carrier signal, these baseband signals of few Hz frequency cannot travel longer due to very high losses and hence needs very large antenna for transmitting and receiving the Signal. We know this formula - v=fλ since speed of the wave is a constant based on the medium. For efficient transmission from an antenna, its size should be comparable to the transmitted wavelength. Hence, use of high frequency carrier wave in modulation facilitates the size of antenna to be reduced, hence reducing the cost and improving its efficiency.
@amazinggagan Жыл бұрын
Antenna length is directly proportional to Wavelength/4 or inversely proportional to frequency
@BITSAdoni6 ай бұрын
Height of the antenna is expressed in terms of lambda(Wavelength). So as Carrier frequency increases(Lambda is Inversely proportional to frequency) lambda decreases hence the Antenna size also decreases.

What 1st thing Ue do once switched one first time.
@itelcotech9312 Жыл бұрын
Hi Shailesh, In 5G SA, when UE switched ON first time, at radio access network level, it has to search for a suitable cell and synchronise with the network. This process is taken care by SSB only.
@sambitroutray82976 ай бұрын
@shaileshyadav4084 .In 5G SA, when UE is powered- on, it will start scanning the whole band with a granularity to locate the frequency domain position of SSB.
@shaileshyadav40846 ай бұрын
What is granularity used or followed by ue to search ssb
@sambitroutray82976 ай бұрын
@@shaileshyadav4084 The position of SSB is variable. And to find the frequency domain position of SSB, UE needs to perform a frequency scan across whole bandwidth using a granularity called as synchronization raster. synchronization raster defines a set of allowed center frequencies for SSB. It can be 1.2/1.44/17.27 MHz.
