Hi There, great video thanks. So, do you believe it is okay to charge for roof inspections even without formal roofing experience or qualifications? I suppose like you said in the description, you articulate that you are not a roof surveyor of any kind, but provide the customer with all the material and information they need to make the best decision for the home and any further action with regards to repairs is up to them?

To add to this: What package do you think I should be offering? I am stuck between photos, videos or a combination of both... As of now, I think a full video inspection of the roof (if battery life allows) is best and then photos of certain intricate areas and any damaged parts you noticed during the flight. Thanks in advance to anyone who offers feedback or assists me here :)

Perfectly legal to fly a sub 250g drone both near and over rail lines, including train stations (as long as there are no crowds or groups of people present). However, I don't recommend anyone fly directly above, over or alongside a moving train. Remember, article 241 of the Air Navigation Order: "A person must not recklessly or negligently cause or permit an aircraft to endanger any person or property". Fly Safe Folks!

Shite hawks were swooping at my drone the other day.... anyway on an unrelated note; do you know of anywhere that sells metal props for a Mavic 2 Pro, some that could be easily sharpened.. for uh,..... aerodynamic reasons... yeah that's it.

My understanding is that a moving car is not classed as a person as they are inside a protective shell and are not likely to step outside of a moving car. Now if a car stops and parks then they may step outside the protective shell and hence this must be considered. Buildings are also protective shells and so if the building has no doors at the back then it’s unlikely that someone will jump out of a window so you can go closer than 50m to the back of that building. Think the advantage of A2cofc over Article 16 for hobby flying is being able to use auto flight like waypoints and follow me.

The thing is with drones let’s say your near airports and stuff 10 metres would not affect anyone or anything BUT in some cases drones can fly away and these drones can go for miles on a fly away so one doing a fly away straight into a landing aircraft os highly dangerous that’s why such a limit

One day we will *really* have risk-based regulation in whch case the rules for *manned* aviation will be altered to reflect the increased risks (from drones) of flying below 500ft. Until that time, any claims that regs are "risk-based" are false. One must also ask... if you put your hand in the mouth of the aligator and it gets bitten off -- who is at fault? The aligator or the idiot who was foolish enough to put his hand in such danger? This is the same question that must be asked of any aviator who chooses to fly below 500ft in the full understanding that "there be drones there" and therefore that the risk of an incident involving a drone increases enormously. Yet another situation where (in the case of manned avaition) just because the rules allow you to do something doesn't mean it's either safe or a good idea. And, it's such a laugh that in countries where Remote ID is a requirement for drones, there is no corresponding mandate for all GA to have ADSB when flying in uncontrolled airspace. Why should those who are required to yeild right of way have the conspicuity when those who need to be seen (in order for others to get out of their way) require no such matching conspicuity? Time for the manned aviation regs to be updated to reflect that the use of our airspace is changing and along with it, the risk profile of various segments of that airspace is also changing.

Generally good info with a couple of inaccuracies... A CTR is not a "Controlled Traffic Region" it's a "Control Zone". There is no such thing as a "Controlled Traffic Region". The larger red areas around an FRZ are never an ATZ (Aerodrome Traffic Zone). ATZs are only ever 2nm or 2.5nm radius circles and are exactly the same dimension as the FRZ but without the stubs.

At 3.46 you refer to smaller airfields eg gliding site. I suggest your (correct) 'don't need permission' statement does not highlight the safety nightmare a drone flying near an active gliding operation would case. Similarly, small airfields (ie farm strips) have serious potential for conflict with and aircraft flying taking off or landing, (having restricted manoeuvrability). I would hope drone pilots would effectively avoid operating in these areas.

I'd say common sense should be used however.... But then lets also make all 658 model flying sites no fly zones for manned aviation.... As a model flyer as well I'm amazed how many manned aircraft fly too low...

Fully agree mate! The DfT and CAA completely shafted everyone by changing their decision only just a few weeks AFTER the C1 Classic was released….which completely and utterly screwed anyone over who was looking forward to flying their new drone in the A1. I don’t know exactly why they did this, but it’s pissed a lot of people off! So now it’s a time wasting plan till 2026 to rack in even more £££ from Operators ID’s. I’m absolutely disgusted how the drone industry path is going, they’re making things 10 times worse, and I agree they are going backwards to some extent. Im paying £10 for a £500 computer to spit out an email, while the CAA are taking in millions from yearly ID’s… it’s all just a complete scam, and where exactly does our £10 a month go? No one knows, make a video on that and expose these crooks 😡😡

But we don’t have to “register” the drone? Talking of “fly-aways” my drone was coming home and a gust of wind destabilised it and it flew off and crashed! “Find my Drone” (and associated map) showed me its exact location and it was easily found. Fortunately! Loving your presentations, very informative. I have taken roof photographs voluntarily for our Church......... does that need reviewing? Nothing untoward happened but my pictures will be going to the Diocesan architect. (Everything at Church is voluntary!)

Point of order. Is the requirement for a physical switch a thing? CAP1789B requirement for C2 class drones is "(9) unless it is a fixed-wing UA, be equipped with a low-speed mode selectable by the remote pilot and limiting the ground speed to no more than 3 m/s." It doesn't specify a physical switch, just the ability to select the mode.

I regularly travel to Poland, so as well as having a UK CAA operator and flyer ID, I also had to do the EASA operator and flyer ID course and register my drone (a DJI Mavic Mini 2) with the Polish CAA. What a faff just to fly a sub 250g drone in Europe. This whole drone classification and ruling is rapidly turning into a real Pandora's Box of rules, counter rules, corrections, mistakes and retractions! As said in the video, nobody on the planet has died from any drone related incidents. It's just regulation for regulations sake.

Think we need to get hold of all PFCO / GVC holders to write to the CAA and complain about the way this has been handled. Last year I had my ops manual returned due to a minor technical error. The CAA had publish a complete abortion, not fit for purpose. Yet expect use, whom have paid thousands of pounds to gain the PFCO / GVC qualification to fall in line with their regulations. Every year I spend hours going through my ops manual to make sure it’s perfect. And yet the CAA and produce a document that makes no sense….. end of rant.. breath and have a drink.

There are only TWO rules we should be observing: 1. do not endanger other people 2. do not endanger other people's property EVERYTHING ELSE is purely advisory. The more rules you have the more loopholes and errors you create. Such a shame that bureaucrats and regulators seem to be paid by the page for their efforts 😞
