Delightful! Brought a smile to my face. Adept story-telling and a clever twist at the end . . .

Wow, thats pretty clever...and quite touching as well. For those of us who have been lifelong fans (I first heard Illegal Smile in the early 70's and was hooked), John's songs have provided a backing track to our own lives...a beautiful, fun & happy, sad, poignant, and introspective backing track. You've captured all of this pretty well in your tribute here. Not many days go by, and probaqbly never will, that I don't play, or pick & sing John Prine songs.🙂

The lyrics weren't bad. The music wasn't bad. But forcing the two together was painful. Those lyrics dont come close to matching the rhythm they were crammed into.

My pleasure. Your performance at Woodstock still stands as one of the most iconic moments in TV/music history. My brother Brian came back from Canada in 1971 with a copy of "Rock n Roll is Here To Stay" and it blew my mind. Still one of my favourite albums of all time., the song choice, the vocals, the running order, the Alan Freed snippets all make it the perfect album. If Brian had still been with us, he would have been blown away by you getting in touch. You all brought a lot of joy and pleasure to music lovers from all corners of the globe. You should be very proud. All the best, Donny.

@@LenVacantVision, in raw showbiz terms our first album was unsuccessful. The buzz got to be that we'd cleaned the rough edges off the old songs too much and "sanitized" them or (worse yet) "sterilized" them. What we were most definitely was theatrical, unusual among "big music stars" of that day.
