Ian, I am so thrilled I found you on line! I am a beginner & never imagined I would ever want to sketch, let alone find it so much fun. I joined + membership & so much value for me. My 3rd lesson begins this month & loved learning about lines, color & now tones etc. Mixed complimentary colors I never would have thought to mix?! THE RAKE coaching opportunity was the chance of a lifetime for me. I am a widow, retired on fixed income but creativity sparks such joy. I love & finished BRIGHTON PIER sketch but flu interfered with me getting watercolors down yet. I Especially love your ZOOM opportunities & your beginner classes are perfect for me. I highly recommend you to everyone. Your team is fabulous & your followers /community are so inspiring! Thanks a bajillion, Ian, for your you tube shows too!!! Creativity is contagious 🪄✏️🖊️🖌️🎨🥰🏝️ JillEileen, San Diego,CA USA

I think what you said is the transition from artist to master. All the “masters”, at one point got tired of just painting what people wanted (for earnings they still did) & in the style of predecessors. They began to paint what they had in heart in their own style for their own times ; their vision … and that is when they became “masters”. Of course, it may not be appreciated at the time by contemporaries & public but one never knows how it will affect artists decades later. VanGogh is one of the biggest examples of such. Just my .02 . Thank you for those heartfelt words … so true.

Thank you for your nice video. Apologies in advance because I am a grammar pedant and I can’t help it. The title should be “things I wish I had known earlier.”

lol, and there are people sat there. British English is the original English. (American English is different; including the grammar and spelling.)😊
