I passed over this bridge a few times before it got reconstructed. It was really cool, and seeing the arch go away was kind of sad, going over it is boring now.

It is wierd how they run through the street like that
@thenekom6 жыл бұрын
It's a bit unusual but there is street running trackage elsewhere in the nation, this is by no means unique. This was and remains a pretty heavy coal route along a river in a valley, so when there isn't room, you just have to use what room there is however you can.

the NS trackage runs right down the middle of the street. Brownsville is a ghost town.

There are 60 loaded coal hoppers on my N scale train layout. They never get unloaded, although do manage to be hauled some miles fairly often. Very much like this train in the video.

Out of Service Marianna branch. from Cokeburg junction to Marianna it's 7 miles. and From Marianna to Mon. it's 19.78 miles. the elevation from Marianna to Scenery Hill is 2.16% and from Scenery Hill to Mon. it's 1.54% At least that's what the PRR TT has in it.
@LeonardFShanerJR12 жыл бұрын
Well , The man I heard it from owns a 2-10-4 . and he and his partners were up to look at the line and was talking to a few people who live near Cokeburg Jct. and then check out the Out of service line that's all over grown with trees. This man is also looking into 5 other lines where he might be able to operate his Steam loco.
@Hail2Pitt41212 жыл бұрын
Where on earth did you hear that?? I don't mean to sound rude by any means at all, but that's got to be one of the biggest loads of malarkey I've ever heard. Although *it* would be nice if it did supposed happen.....

@MrSuperRileymoore As far as I know, they still run the local to that Flexsys plant right by the crossing, probably right out of Shire Oaks, but 84 mine has been closed for some time now, so no more coal drags. I'm not aware of any other industries served by that line
@ChachaChapati13 жыл бұрын
Great catch. You know you're near the 'Burgh when you see coal trains and an Orthodox church on every street corner.

@thenekom How long are the trains usually? I counted 120 cars before the video stopped. Out here in VA I am used to see loaded coal trains of 150-180 and empties of 150-200 on NS on CSX I have seen 180 loaded coal train with one engine and outbounds of about 150-180. Great video.

@xxxDeath9572xxx Yeah 84 mine is indeed officially closed for good. Surprisingly they had about 60 people working there since it's been idled for a good two years or so.

2 slug sets... Interesting... I've never seen slug sets ( ever so more hump slug sets ) coming up the Mon.. Unless NS was that power deprived at Shire Oaks that they had to send in slug sets from Conway.

80MAC's weren't so 'out of blue' ( no pun intended ) as you may think. The old Ellsworth Secondary was a pretty big frequenter of the 80MAC's.. The Ellsworth Secondary at this time had the old Bethlehem Mine #60, commonly called Mine 84. At one time this was one heck of a busy branch. Numerous large mines and a number of coke ovens, along with local industries.
