Another great piece and that damascus is amazing... I love how you experiment with materials (is that CarbonWaves colored carbon fiber?) and put them togheter, i used to try that too and its not easy (without proper tools and loads of expirience)... You deserve much bigger audience, keep this longer builds comming if you can..
@HelixKnives21 күн бұрын
Thank you very much for your kind words. The blue carbon fiber is from Emil Epoxy Lab.

I use a rotary tool with a dumb sander attachment. I practiced on a piece of scrap wood first, it's not that hard you just need to keep the spacing consistent.

If only we could click a real life x8 button when hand sanding! I've admired your work on Pinterest for quite a while now, and I must admit, your profiles and finishes have inspired most of my work! Keep up the good work and if you persist with your videos, I'm sure you'll inspire many other keen knife makers starting out. Great work!

Beautiful knife, but can’t help but notice a defect in the scales near the tang. My eyes might be tricking me, though. I would like you to torture test your knives for us, please! Also, this knife’s blade would give hell to whoever sharpens it. Tutorial video, maybe?

I don't know what you are seeing but the handle has no defects. I just posted a edge test video you should check it out.

Nice job, that handle looks amazing. I just ordered a knife (Joker Bushlore) that has curly birch handles and I’d like to do the same to mine. May I ask what exactly you used and the steps you took to achieve such a beautiful finish? Thank you!
@HelixKnives2 ай бұрын
I like to use tung oil at 120grit and cover it a few times to really saturate the wood. Then I would wet sand with tung oil all the way up to 2000 grit and finish by hand polishing with a microfiber towel and automotive polish. This particular piece of curly birch is red because it had been stabilized with red stabilizing resin prior to finishing.

Did you know you can use just a little bit of vaselineonly areas? You don't want the epoxy to stick. Making cleaned up after set up a breeze.
@HelixKnives4 ай бұрын
I have used that method in the past with wax. But now that I use a different epoxy for glue up it doesn't seem to work as well, the glue gets too hard and not easy to remove.
