@user-xk3su3yc7m had to look it up, they are a threatened species in Texas. I’ve seen guys keep other species for turtle soup.

@@BitesandStrikesFishing Ahh.... Didn't know that. Are they actually protected? My Aunt Duck and my Grandmother were literal BEASTS cooking this stuff. They taught me how to prepare such things. My grandmother was born in 1898, they all grew up during the Depression.

I like watching your channel, however, people have to be careful and know their laws. Those alligator gar are very bony but as you said, delicious smoked. But..... Alligator gar are protected in Florida and some other places, making it illegal to keep or possess them. That was a nice fish! Looks like it gave you a good work out.

I Texas it’s a 1 per day and under 48” limit. In Louisiana there’s no limit at all. Gotta check the laws for sure

I have purchased and used both of these reels. Only for saltwater applications commercial fishing use. The battle 3DX 6000 The DX has upgraded main pinion. My battle 3DX has fished 3 commercial seasons an stood up pretty well, reliable reel for the money. The fierce is an okay reel. But for anybody that is looking at these reels to purchase my opinion would be spend a little more money and get a Slammer if you want to stay with penn. The Daiwa BG is a much better made and durable. if you're looking for a live liner feature save your money and buy a Shimano d baitrunner drag is much much smoother oscillation is much better and the drag also. all in all I would much rather spend a little more money and get more longevity dependability & performance. But like he said in the video personal preference fishing Styles and locations freshwater saltwater both are affordable options is my take on those two
@BitesandStrikesFishing8 күн бұрын
Very well said. I haven’t tried the BG yet but the one down side of the Shimano is the reel has less line capacity than the Penns. The Fierce is the budget option for sure.

Enjoy your day tomm hopefully your successful I know it takes some serious gear to haul in specks whiting and ferocious sail cats!
@kennethdurkin86216 күн бұрын
@@robbubba8020 yea, skill is mostly what you need but i use fairly lightweight gear and rely on my fishing skill. I caught a 67" gar off a pier on 20lb test and a little rod, in fact, an old redneck like yourself on the pier that day said, " whatchu plan on catchin with that lil rod?", i caught the biggest fish and more fish that day. Why do you grouper guys think its a flex...because you spend alot on fuel, its certainly not hard. Lol im baggin on the raggedy fish your making videos about, if your such a badass grouper fisherman, post that shit, im sure youll get more views but youre probably just full of shit. Anyway, ill enjoy my day tomorrow, fosho.

Well personally I think gar are delicious, they taste more like alligator or chicken than fish. And yes, I enjoy targeting the 2nd largest freshwater species in America. I also fish for carp, amazing fighters and super fun. I don’t care what people call them. If i enjoy, I do it.
