Great video. I just finished doing this on my breakout. Only issue that I have is that I can’t adjust the preload. I brought it down to “0” before I started. Now I can’t move it back up to 1 or 2. Any guidance is appreciated.
@kodlinusa6155
@kodlinusa6155 18 күн бұрын
First make sure you reinstalled the parts correctly. Adding the Kodlin lowering kit has no operational effect on the pre-load adjustment. Just by its nature going up on the numbers can be challenging and it may take considerably more effort to change positions because now you are adding pressure to the spring. The OEM tool provided with your bike doesn't make the task any easier.

@@marwin73 I just realized you mentioned it was a Breakout. So oops, that won't have the spanner wrench type of adjustment. You can't turn the knob to get more preload then? How tight did you turn knob when setting to 0? Can you check the preload mechanism on the shock to see if it's already extended out. Your spring should move freely with added weight to bike or force against it. Does it sag when sitting on the bike? Adding our part has no effect (as long as you removed the proper parts during install process as shown in instructions or video) on this function or spring movement. If you left a part in it may increase your preload on spring but that shouldn't stop you from tuning the knob and adding more. Did you remove the knob and reinstall it wrong? 🤔

Unfortunately, we do not have a direct fit light available to fit your strut because the light mount has to also go through the fender. Possibly one of these suggestions may work for you. 1. Aftermarket has 8mm x 1.25 TP hollow bolts that can be cut to length. You can remove the stud from one of our stud mounted Neowise style of lights K68461, K68462, K68463, K68464. Use this hollow bolt to mount our light and support your fender. You will also need one aftermarket fender adapter for the light recess. Our adapters will not directly work for your year, they require one round hole and one oval hole where your strut has two round holes. You may be able to elongate the forward hole without issue to make our adapters fit I believe. 2. Drill strut just forward of existing light mount and use one of our stud mounted Neowise lights mentioned above. Stud may need to be removed and trimmed if it contacts fender so it won’t pinch the wires coming out of it. Use fender adapter with decorative bolt with nut on inside of fender to cover removed light recess in strut and support the fender. 3. Remove existing lights and cover recess hole as in #2 above. Purchase one of our license plate kits such as KUS20350 since it has LP light with left and right 3-1 run/turn/brake lights in the license frame. Note: This is not a plug and play setup so be ready to wire lights yourself. Hope this helps!

The motorcycle lift is a hydraulic one from K&L. It has upgraded front wheel chock instead of a clamp and also has ratchet straps to quickly tie the bike down. Makes front wheel removal a breeze. It also has a drop down for the rear as well. Added bonus is it lifts up to 48" high which is nice since I'm 6'2".

When you compress the spring, it will enable you to reach the jam nut at an angle. That's enough to snug the nut up firmly and that's all that's needed.

@kodlinusa6155
@kodlinusa6155 7 ай бұрын
You need to look at your rear struts. The main issue on older models is the turn signal mounting holes. We designed our Neowise mini-fender lights for the newer style of struts that have an oval and a round hole in the strut. The issue with older bikes is at some point they used a bolt that went from inside the fender through strut to mount the light. On these struts they typically used two round holes and one has a spacer so the bolt going from inside of fender to light mount doesn't suck in the fender when tightening. They won't work with our mini fender strut lights but you can get the bullet style of lights to work if you get a long 8mm x 1.25mm hollow bolt to replace the studs in those lights. You may need to cut the bolts to proper length for fitment, but it can be done. 😎

As when I put these on when you indicate it still uses the drl and not very bright turn signal at the same time. I want it to turn completely off while it's in use like when the hazards are on its super bright then.

We have used Highsider part number 208-109 with good success. It will turn off the running light while turn function is operating and turn back on afterwards. It would need to be spliced into middle of existing front turn signal harness wiring for each side with 3 wires (ground, turn, run) input and 3 wires (ground, turn, run) output or you could put MX19 connectors on it and plug between our light connector and OEM harness, or between OEM front turn signal connectors in the neck.

Did you back off the lock nut? Do not force it or you may gall the threads and lock it in place. I run the locknut all the way back. I use a wrench on the locknut then install a 3/8" extension through shock end leaving the bushing installed to protect bearings. The shock end will usually just snap loose and come off very easily. If not try using some heat on the shock end and use a thread lubricant like WD-40. Work the shock end back and forth to work lubrication into the threads and carefully work it off. You may need to do this a few times along the way. There is really no reason for it to be hard to get off unless it was installed with too much thread locker or installed with damaged threads previously.

I would suggest having a trained technician look at it. Of the four wires that should be involved, none should have any voltage going to them when ignition is turned off except maybe the brake circuit but only if you have a malfunctioning brake switch that keeps brake lights on at all times, it's typically the front one. The only other time would be if you left your flashers running. Without some other issue the lights alone cannot cause this issue. Alwas go to our website and download the latest version of the instructions from products detail page or tech guide section to ensure you have the latest version available. Due to length of time between production runs and shipping dates to customers we may have updated the instructions or developed a tech tip to further help our customers.

For the Breakout the stock T/S has only three wires. If you used all four wires from main harness you will get an amber LED when brake is applied due to BCM configuration sending brake voltage down the wire for T/S as well as brake circuit. We have a tech tip "M8 Softail OEM Light Harness to 3-1 LED Lights" in our Tech_Guide section that might help you out.
