Yes, I missed the Captain in Stockholm. But I saw Pink Floyd in Stockholm 1967. Then I thought it was only noice. But Syd Barrett gave me candy. After asking my dad. I was five years then. It was my dad's friend that took them to Stockholm/Sweden.

As a bass player I moved from Pomona to Lancaster in 1967, within a few months I met and was friended by the original members of the Magic Band, Alex St. Claire, Mark Boston, Bill Harkleroad, Jeff Cotton, and John French. As a Beefheart Fan Boy It was quite a Life

Comments are hilarious. Reminds of those Charlie Tuna commercials from the 60's and 70's. "Hey Starkist....check me out listening ta dis genius art music avanty-garde stuff, pretty good taste I got, eh?" (voice answers) "Sorry Charlie, Starkist don't want tunas with good taste, they want tunas that taste good". Stick with it, though. The Shaggs, Tiny Tim, Florence Foster Jenkins, Pitbull, Captain Beefheart. You'll figure it out eventually.
All those songs could be as South Park themes. around year 2000 when i was 20, i bought Trout Mask Replica because my father told me the story about how it was made and that Captain was a childhood friend of Zappa and their genius stuff etc. And also that album was on all the lists of best Albums made in the Century. I really tried to listen and got a minute or two fulfilling but i hated it. But since then i have been listening and he's a Shaman, differently Wired, i love him.

Crap...crap in Nov 1980 and crap now. Self indulgent Zappaporn. Not music, never music. This is the stuff that made Spinal Tap's parody so on target. Wherever you are, in heaven or hell Captain Beefheart, go fuc*k yourself. Aside from you sculpting the odd worthy art object as a kid, everything else you did in life was garbage.

Do you have any idea how f*cking FUN this is? NONE of your preferred bands would DARE cross the Don Van Vliet line of creativity. Unless...you just baited us in here and you love it! Yeah....... you love it. .....me too......

Captain The Great!! While much of the music from the 60s and 70s has become anachronistic, Captain Beefheart's music sounds as if it could have been created just as well yesterday and is timeless.

It is an acquired tastelessness for sure. I haven't listened to Beefheart for 20 odd years but am enjoying it more than before. The band is amazing, tight knit and relentless and the discordant quality wonderful. Love it or hate it I am sure. Anarchic modal 60's flower power rock at its best.

This is great! He played a mean Blues Harp! And he had a good voice for Blues! I like him! Nowadays a woman’s got to hit a man so he knows she’s there! That’s funny! 😅😊
