@priscillaadriana2079 for skincare, just call it hygiene and you'll probably be okay, but it honestly depends on your class officer, so they might not let you take it out until Candio phase. For hair rollers, you'll probably not be allowed to use them until Candio phase. Your hair will be in a tight bun all the time anyway.

what is the application process like for OCS? What types of documents do they need (I assume transcripts and letters of recommendation)? Is the process very selective? Or if I apply do I have a relatively high chance of acceptance?
@Mollyloveblue5 ай бұрын
To apply for OCS, you'll need to first decide on a designator. Prospective naval officers apply for a specific job, and only if they're selected do they go to OCS. Your application will be a full package to include transcripts, letters of recommendation, and your OAR or ASTB-E score (depending on which designator you're applying to). You'll also have to write a personal statement that is tailored to your designator of choice. You may apply for multiple designators, but you'll have to do a full package for each one. Look up the different types of officers, talk to people in the community you want to join, and then work with your recruiter. Different designators will have different levels of competition.

Relax, my heart rate and bp were high because I was so stressed. (for no reason). Do the best you can on the vision and hearing stuff. Be honest. and above all else, be polite! Be polite to all workers, from the security line to the folks running the desk at meps. They know what they are doing and you may find yourself needing a question answered by them. Yes, the medical 1 on 1 with the doctor is awkward, do what he/she says, they've seen plenty of jiggly bits in their career, they don't care at all. Show up hydrated, good nights sleep and you will be fine. Edit: if you are going as an Officer Candidate, things are a bit different, as in they direct you to different areas and ask you different things and every so often you will hear "Oh! You want to be an officer, okay we are doing this instead" go with the flow, let them know if they are confused as to why your forms are different.

Mine wouldn’t even marry me until he left military bought all his properties and spent his money on the properties and anything expensive. He left me ☺️ because he ruined my image with his friends and his bestfriend was uncomfortable with moving into the house he and I bought for our family. Even though I did everything he wanted. Just because I did drugs once and he had no trust in me I took care of him the whole house our neighbors my self his family and I had a job. Several hobbies and I wanted nothing but to make him happy. I did it. And only because I wanted him to have better things than to have the idea that to keep his own life pleasant that you have to abandon and destroy what you built with someone to make a life worth living removing the pain of a person who is your partner because that makes me an opp. Because a partner has less interest in your life happiness and pleasure than a person who wants to sleep with you or the people around you that want to steal your happiness or your money and even less than that. They want from you because they are nothing but a financial burden to you even though they support themselves financially and your entire existence is based on how much they want to give you for your life to be so amazing.

If there are certain things I attempt to memorize from Appendix Bravo, or if there are certain things I’m not quite at the standard I would like to be by the time I go to OCS, should I be super panicked? I am applying here within the next couple of weeks once I get my physical done at MEPS and get a waiver or two taken care of that I need, and I’m finishing my masters this coming summer, so I wont even ship out for OCS until August 2024 at the earliest. I’m working on getting physically prepared and learning the knowledge, but I have a massive paranoia that I will still be underprepared when I go. I mean, I know RDCs yell and put you on your face, but when it comes down to it, is there forgiveness for a learning curve during this process?

You don't need to be super panicked. It does sound like you have a lot of time between now and when you expect to leave. Remember, a little bit of studying here and now will help you in the long run. Thanks so much for all your great videos and advice. What do you think is the most common reason people DOR and at what stage does it happen the most? What is the average % who DOR out of OCS - are those stats anywhere they can be found?
@Mollyloveblue Жыл бұрын
Hello! Of course, happy to have made videos that help! To answer your other questions, anecdotally, most people who DO DOR do it during INDOC. It really is the filter. There are some special cases I've heard of where someone DOR'd on graduation day, because they never actually intended to become commissioned, they just wanted to prove to someone that they could. Wild, but it happened. For statistics, you have to know someone in the chain of command for OCS who has those, the hard and true spreadsheets aren't publicly available, but if you're in the right forum and ask the right questions and the right person is around, someone might leak them to you. I got my hands on one before I went to OCS and saw all kinds of things, but it ultimately didn't help or hurt me in any way. It's not a big deal if you can't get it. Just do your best!

Young lady, great video. It is a great comfort knowing my Navy was able to obtain your service. And I thank you for your service. I retired in 1995 after a little more than 20 years active service. I graduated OCS in September 1980, LIMA Company, entering with 5 years prior enlisted US Navy service. Thank you for taking your time to help others who are either considering Naval service as a commissioned officer or are waiting their class start date. My two cents of advice to add onto what you thoroughly covered is One: Not everyone is cut out for this life. Don't condemn yourself if you just don't fit in. Realize it's not your calling if you can't fit in. I had a dear friend and classmate who was both highly intelligent and super physically fit who dropped out after 10 weeks. He is probably a millionaire today, because he said, "there's no way I am going to subject myself to this insane life for peanuts." 2. Remember all the insanity they put you through comes down to DISCIPLINE. A high level of discipline to mentally and physically prepare you for what you will face when you walk out into the fleet. I can't tell you how many times during those arduous cold war submarine patrols I had to "go beyond" myself and what I thought was my limit. Be Strong. For those who are called to the US Navy - it is the greatest professional experience you will ever know.

Molly, I'm with the best Interest for my son who has been with some decent athletic success. He's a three time NCAA Wrestling Champion and MMA with a couple of victories fighting for UFC. At the moment he is in Colorado Springs representing the USA Wrestling team for training bids for the upcoming International World Games in the quest for possible Olympic bids. My question is how should he deal with possible scrutiny and whether he will be prone to such because of his background. He has a college fraternity tattoo that I warned him against. Should he have it removed by dermabrasion? He graduated with a degree in Engineering (Aeronautical) with a minor in Physics this past December too and just turned 23 and definitely is hoping to attend BUDS as soon as possible.
@Mollyloveblue Жыл бұрын
As long as the tattoo is within regulations, he shouldn't have any issues with it. He's not going to deal with any more hardship than anyone else at OCS. BUD/S, however, will certainly be much more challenging than anything any OCS folks have endured. If he makes it through BUD/S, he'll have the easiest time at OCS. While at BUD/S, I would encourage him to not announce all of his achievements until maybe the last phase--when they've already endured all of the physically much more hellish phases (e.g.; INDOC/boat teams/catching the truck/hell week/freezing their butts off/etc. and the 'underwater' portion), and even after they make it through all of the academics. I would have him wait to talk about his experiences until he's pretty much a guarantee to graduate, because otherwise, he'll just be another guy with a great story who was just another 'buds dud'. It's much cooler if he gets through it and THEN can talk about his civilian achievements. Otherwise, it will be a case of 'Even an MMA fighter/UFC champion couldn't make it through!'

what is ur job in the navy? I am considering on comissioning and my recruiter adviced me to be a SWO and said that it is on demand and that's the fastest way to comission since there's abut 70% acceptance rate for SWO.
@Mollyloveblue Жыл бұрын
I don't discuss my specific designator, for privacy reasons, but I can tell you that there's a lot more to which job is the best to apply for, and it's more than which one has the highest acceptance rate. Quality of life, for one. And if your recruiter says you can always lat-transfer later, just know you can't lat-transfer from the SWO community until you get your pin. Which can take some people their entire first tour. No shame to anyone who likes the SWO community, or who stays in it, but just food for thought.

I actually know someone whose mom did that--and eventually when she got out, she had her own OB-GYN practice in San Diego! Do you have specific questions about the process? They are at the same station as OCS, in Newport, RI.

How does picking a community work before shipping for navy ocs? I’m prior enlisted army and for us if you went to ocs you weren’t getting your community (branch for army) until near the end of ocs. I’m interested in going to navy ocs in the next 2-3 years finally after taking the long way through life in my 20’s (currently 26, 27 in august) and I’m leaning towards eod or intel or crypto warfare (current comp sci major and I do a lot of machine learning/AI work and I’m planning on getting my masters in that soon after I finish my bachelors)
@Mollyloveblue Жыл бұрын
So fun fact! When joining the Navy as an officer, you actually apply to the designator you'd like, and if you're selected by a board of community representatives for that designator, you get to go to OCS as that! If they don't select you, then you can re-apply under the same designator, a related designator, or go for an entirely different community. For example, there's the aviation community, the information warfare community, etc. If you're interested in Intel or Crypto, but you're interested in some sort of offensive or defensive cyber, then there's a new cyber designator beginning THIS YEAR. There's a NAVADMIN that went out about it. They even have a pilot program to send newly commissioned Ensigns through the ION program, which was previously reserved for only enlisted CTNs who are going to be operators for cyber effects. See how the program evolves over the next 2-3 years, and if it's something you're interested in, then talk to your recruiter about it. Best of luck!
