Copper works the older the copper gets its syronger when its white and green its shocks the slugs. But that looks more like caterpiler dammage slugs wont go that high they tend to go maybe 4 foot if they eating greens they woukdn eat bitter leaves and most fruit tree leaves are bitter.

I think you have to put a little bit of metal on the shaft called a woodruff key or moon key , if you miss this out I think it breaks the adapter easily 😀👍🇫🇷

When I was a prison officer in charge of gardens we had 4 mountfields and I can assure you they had some rough treatment from the inmates.We never had any problems other than normal servicing.He's either had bad luck or a problem with the company.

Had a Mountfield once and all the plastic parts broke, the carb was amazing, must have been about 30 springs, didn't know what they did. I bent the crankshaft and replaced it, surprisingly cheap and easy, camshaft was made of plastic I remember. Now have a Honda which has been great but the deck is nearly rusted through, seems a common problem.

I've had a Mountfield EP414 for four years. It cost me 150 euro new and has turned a field of wild grass into a garden. It's had an absolute battering, just two services and is only now in need of new lower handles. It's been absolutely amazing.

Had an Sp53h for 7 years and used it commercially for the last 3 of those. The boss is there to protect the crank…..the next thing this guy will be complaining about is a bent crank! Mine has got through one drive cable amd one throttle cable in 7 years which I think is fair given the amount of use it’s had. I’ve had to change the spark plug once and the oil been changed every other year and the machine still keeps marching on with the first pull(sometimes second) of the chord. This guy must be drinking Stella and wearing a vest whilst using this mower to have caused such destruction in two years!!!

I’m running a Mountfield manufactured in 1996 and it’s still going strong in 2021. Minimal maintenance required and starts first time every time and cuts a lot of grass every year. I will buy another Mountfield when (if) my 25 year old mower gives up. Can’t help but think this video is looking for faults to show his own DIY skills and not using the warranty?

have had an S481 pd es for 3 years now cost in the region £400-£500 and absolute disaster from day one. was sent back within days of receiving it cables incorrectly fitted. supposed to be key start but doesn't, fed up charging the battery and then only getting a couple of key starts out of it. forgotten now how many times i have had to have it repaired. VERDICT last Mountfield I will ever buy, AND WOULD NOT RECOMEND THEM.

That mower is designed for domestic use not commercial use! Your clearly not looking after that machine by the looks of it.the blade boss is designed so if you hit something hard e.g concrete etc then the prongs on the blade boss are designed to snap off so no damage is caused to the engine.also have you put the woodruff key back in place ? If the woodruff key is not present them your going to end up with the boss slipping and the prongs snapping off.The mower is designed to cut grass not concrete! By putting that bit of metal over the blade and boss then your going to end up with a knackered engine.make sure when you put the blade boss and the woodruff key in the correct place, you torque it up to the correct manufactures specifications
@grant605gb
@grant605gb 4 жыл бұрын
Clearly you are also confused by the video, I have never "cut concrete" as you put it I am fully aware of the Woodruff key thank you, and the point I the video is to show the poor build quality of the machine and it's inadequate design choices, I service and maintain all of my machines very well thank you and they are used for hours every day all day, if I'm doing it do badly lets see some videos on your channel?

I don’t think this particular mower is designed for 4-5 hours use every day, only for domestic gardening, not commercial.
@EazyDuz18
@EazyDuz18 4 жыл бұрын
Based on how filthy it is I'd say these issues are all down to abuse and poor maintenance. Mountfield are well established and use ultra reliable Honda engines.
@grant605gb
@grant605gb 4 жыл бұрын
I think you are confusing abuse with overused, this is sold and advertised as a commercial mower for rough ground and is in use for 4-5 hours every day during the growing season, I have bought, sold, repaired, and modified many many mowers in the last 20 years and this is by far the worst cheaply made mower I have ever seen or used
@mikebell1980
@mikebell1980 2 жыл бұрын
A commercial mower? They are not sold as such. The fact that you put up this video with the mower in the state it’s in is proof enough you don’t look after it. For commercial use the warranty is only 90 days, a clear indication that this is a mower designed for domestic use. If you wanted a commercial mower you should have bought accordingly. You certainly wouldn’t have got one for the price you paid this.

@grant605gb
@grant605gb 4 жыл бұрын
No there is no extra vibration at all, all older style mowers and most commercial/farm machinery use this type of attachment to prevent this exact issue. This is only ever a cost saving design from the makers cheap, fast, poorly made, poorly designed

Have a HP185 just for home use and must say for the £230 or so I paid its brilliant compared to other rubbish I have used, probably doesn’t get the wear and tear your model does mind, apart from poor assembly instructions I’m happy.
