It may surprise you to learn that the phrase “Repent of your sins” or “Repent from your sins” is not found anywhere in the Bible. The word of God does not demand repentance from sin to be saved. Biblical repentance is directly tied to biblical revelation. This is not a turning from sin rather this is a changing of mind about who and what could solve your sin problem. Ray in his videos says that believing is a righteous work? This would have to be nothing but confusing to a nonbeliever. the Gospel of John quotes believe over 100 times and is mentioned over 200 times in the New Testament alone. Mainly it's God's will that we believe, of cause just believing without faith and trust in the cross is not enough to be saved but God's gift of Grace responding the call of the Holy Spirit is a done deal. Telling people to stop sinning when we clearly cannot and those that say they do not are lying and have sinned. Believing that we are responsible to keep the Law leads inevitably to the inability to stop sinning. When we disagree with God and hang onto the idea that we must fulfill the law, we lose our joy in salvation and set ourselves up for failure. The only way to break the cycle and stop sinning is to accept the fact that we cannot stop sinning. Christ fulfilled the Law and the moment we come to terms with that we will have joy and peace. Romans 7 seems to be a chapter that living waters seems not to relate regarding its perfect depiction of struggling with the flesh! How would you witness to Paul, would you say to him stop sinning?? He knows his struggle with the flesh. A last thought what about the thief on the cross...HE JUST BELIEVED, he did not have time to discuss all the theological angles he saw Christ in the flesh and believed we see Christ through the scriptures, believe and trust in him, Faith alone, Christ alone! What can a person do who never understood the sinner’s prayer? There are two vague Concepts in that prayer: a previous Catholic might believe that only past sins are forgiven. The purpose driven life is a great book who teaches us what's the purpose God has for our lives. We are made for God and to glorify him. So what's wrong with this book???? JMA didn't explain what content of this book has problem. JMA seems to enjoy scolding evangelical Christians.

Amen. So many have believed that "Love your neighbor as yourself" are two commandments, one to love your neighbor and two to love yourself. Nope! Nowhere in scripture is found a commandment to love oneself. 2 Timothy 3:2 makes it clear that the love of self is evil. One cannot deny oneself, as explained in this video and love oneself as many of today's pastors and authors declare.

I'm here to see if there is outright heresy in the book or if it's ok to read the book if you already have solid knowledge of the Word and are reading the book with a grain of salt.

"I believe just trying to do God's will pleases God..." Would this lady extend that grace to someone who (lovingly) calls out homosexuality as a sin because they are trying to do God's will? In my experience most people tolerate "trying to do God's will" when it means allowing people to live as they please. They are less tolerant when someone, even painfully and sorrowfully, has to call out sin because they sincerely see that in Scripture. I say this as someone in minstry who has had to do just that. And it deeply hurts me that someone else has been hurt as a result, but I cannot deny what I read in the pages of the Bible.

I've followed John MacArthur since 1988; I have also read the purpose driven life. My take away from the book was that the purpose of life is to live in a way that glorifies Jesus Christ by making Him the center of how you live. Maybe I just didn't grasp the "man centered" nature of the book but I walked away with the message that living a Christ centered life is your purpose in life. I have read other books that I've felt were not Christ centered, most recently, "Jesus, the God who knows your name" by Max Lucado.

Many different scriptures, some are referring to becoming a Christian, and some are referring as to the qualification of a disciple. The word "Disciple" has interchangeable meanings. It can mean follower or it can mean teacher, of which holds more responsibility. To whom much is given, much is also required. A good number of fundamentalist Baptist leaders claim practically or altogether the Pentacostal or Assemblies of God churches worldwide is a false church, of which is ridiculous. McArthur primarily believes this, but not altogether. He also generally believes Billy Graham is a false teacher. Obviously one has to figure out the interpretation of scripture for themselves.
