Always pan to the end point if there is a pan control. Left microphone go to the left channel only, Right microphone go to the right channel only. Do not mix in between.

The Blumlein + Omni sounds interesting. What kind of contraption are you using to hold to microphones in place?

It is a Rycote blimp set, for Schoeps double MS setup. The omni position was a figure-8 side way, and Blumlein position was side address cardioid facing front and back.

What a treat finding this when I was searching for Blumlein microphone technique videos! I, too, sing in a men’s chorus, and now I record it starting this season. Not only was your performance joyous and spot on, but the recording sounded great having a perfect balance between intimacy and room sound, without harshness. My goal, too. Just curious, what microphones were you using? BTW, my Langsford Men’s Chorus has several videos on KZbin also. Best of luck and post more please!

I built this single piece Blumlein stereo microphone CSM88. It is the first single body small diaphragm condenser Blumlein stereo mic. There're some users now, and they really like this B9Audio CSM88. I also built a similar one with side by side capsules layout, for this layout, the capsules can be exchanged with other layout, such as XY, MS, and even ORTF, AB. I name this series "FSM", flexible stereo microphone.

Thank you for your quick reply. I will definitely consider the CSM88 to possibly replace my very clunky, very heavy Rode NTR + ARA Stereo Bar Blumlein pair. The B9Audio mic looks to be an attractive solution at a very reasonable price.
