Amazing how you never see litter in these old photos and everyone in suits. They had no drugs, and crime was almost non existant.

I'd read about the Royal Navy bombarding the Vichy French fleet but had never read anything about the US Navy doing the same.

O(n top of that, I was raised to always take your shoes off inside the house. Obviously, it was a different upbringing for Francine Larrimore.

I spent the first 30 years of my life living within 3 city blocks from East 14th Street, New York City. E.14th Street is now part of what is called, "The East Village". There's a high volume of fascinating history in this neighborhood. For instance, on East 8th Street and Saint Mark's Place, One of the founders of the original, Russian COMMUNIST Party, Leon Trotsky, had an Office and living residence. Mr. Trotsky spent about 5 years at this location. During the early 1920's there used to be large COMMUNIST Rallies on 14th Street and Union Square Park.

I remember how Kroger had a token few stores in lower Wisconsin through the mid-1960s then sold them off. Last year they were the number one food store chain in Wisconsin yet not a single one is named Kroger. They bought out three other chains in the state and cumulatively they are number one in stores and sales
