Once again a very fair test with comparable results. Thanks.🙂

Good test. Did you mean NUX B6 clip on mic? That’s the one I gig with and it sounds terrible in the test 🙈.
@saxophonespirit21 күн бұрын
Hey, thank you :) It’s also my mic for gigging with the Alto Sax. I played it with the tenor only once, but I also think it sounds muffled. I tested every mode (green/ orange/ red) but with the tenor it sounds not great. But with my Alto, I love it!

Nice test where differences between the mics were made very clear. Thanks.

I have often battled with the absolute lowest notes. After my last gig I realized what was wrong. I had my sax hanging too low and one of the keys was hitting against my thigh instead of opening!

That’s a great comment! Thank you 😊 I think that’s a really nice thing if you figure out „what’s wrong“ by yourself.

Good videos Patty. My issue with playing with DJs is most of them are idiots.
@danielorum191828 күн бұрын
LOL!! Why is that?
@BassNSax62828 күн бұрын
@@danielorum1918 I’ve actually changed my mind on this subject . Not all DJs are idiots, just the ones who live near me🤣I know there are some brilliant, talented ,hard working DJ’s who deserve respect . I apologise for any offence, my comment may of caused.

Fair enough. Thanks for sharing. I am working towards playing sax with a DJ for the first time perhaps later this year or early next year..hope he is good to work with 👍😃

@@danielorum1918 I’m the same. How’s your preparation going?
@danielorum191828 күн бұрын
@@BassNSax628pretty good. I’m practising jubel and saxobeat atm. Alto trying to improvise over random dance hits from Spotify. (It’s hard to do) Also practising all major scales and major pentatonic scales. In the practice room right now. Where are you in your journey?

I didn't want to buy it myself, but I got it for my birthday. It's actually a very good bit of kit and really works. I can now better concentrate on my tone. I don't use it with an audience, because normally there is a monitor in front of me. 😁

Thank you for your comment 🤗 At first I was sceptical about it, but now I used it a couple of years and I can recommend it to others. Nice that it works for you as well.

Reed position on the mouthpiece can also cause squeaks. Sometimes when adjusting the mpc for tone the reed can get pushed out of place so it’s a good idea to check it.

This video confirmed that I am on the right track. I’m a gigging saxophonist at the moment playing at venues. Jazz, pop and that sort of stuff. But I am practising being able to play as a sax-dj. Love your content.

If the DJ is going to choose the tunes. eg Mr Sax o Beat surely he/She is going to have tracks with Sax already on them?
@saxophonespirit2 ай бұрын
That’s obviously right :) but often locations want a „real“ Musician in addition to a DJ to heat up the audience. It makes a big difference if there is a guy behind a MacBook who press the play button - or if there is an entertaining musician. (With this I don’t want to talk the art of djing down!) So it makes sense for a DJ to have these tracks without a Saxophone. Normally the musician bring along these backingtracks. But you have to talk with the DJ if it fits in his set.

It would appear that you did not ‘tune’ the two instruments to the same note, hence why the Jupiter sounds a little off compared to the YAS23 (AS100). That said, the YAS23 is still the better instrument, regardless of the tunning! Thanks for sharing your experience with these two instruments.

Your comparison is so beautiful & systematic. I have seen so many people comparing different makes but your concept of comparison is indeed great. For me Jupiter is Mellow & Yamaha is Bright.

The Jupiter was a little sharp the whole time so I couldn’t get a sense of tone from the Jupiter compared to the Yamaha. Of course the Yamaha is better, yet you’re getting an instrument almost as good but for 1/2 the price.

I'm going to bet I'll like the Yamaha better... yup. Of course, for 3x+ the $$$. Jupiter is a. bit. nasal sounding but for like 2 grand, I'd live with the Jupiter.

The Yamaha has a warmer and better tone than the Jupiter. The Jupiter sounds a little stuffy...and annoyingly buzzy. The Yamaha has a more refined tone and better tonal body.
