Hi @brettpayne9548, are 4, 6, 8 digit grid maps military maps only? Bonus question- are any civilian maps set up in similar formats or are they all some form of degree-minute-seconds? Thanks!

Don't want to extend downwind to much or you will nick the Charlie. This is a hard airport.

@@brettpayne9548The grid coordinate you called it, what do, I do with it?

The full number at the end is the 8 digit grid coordinate. If you have the right map it helps you find where you are, where something else is, and the basis for navigating in the real world.

@@brettpayne9548 yes I know that, but like, how does the number help? What do I actually do with the number, it can't help by just existing.

Hi, I’m a former Army MP from back in the late 80’s. Can’t begin to tell you how much I struggled with this in basic training. I was wanting to relive it just incase the SHTF. Where can I get the maps I need? I got one of the area I live in from the USGS but it was not the same. It was similar but the grids were larger than the ones we used to use in the military. Thanks!

Hello! I found a pdf version of the map I wanted online. I talked to a local blueprinting office and they printed it for me. I wasn’t sure if it would be to scale but it worked out perfectly!
