I like the idea that during this musical number all the cats got a restful night's sleep in the sleeping car. They all sang their parts in their dreams!

I love how you used staging and lighting (especially the spotlights) in this one. This animatic is just so fun and expressive.

There was plans in the 90s to make an animated Cats movie by Amblin and would’ve had the cast of the musical return. It was cancelled after Amblin shut down. If it had been made like this it would’ve been amazing

I think Cats the Movie would've been received much better if they approached it as an animated film. 2D or 3D animation, with voice actors who are familiar with musical structure and Cats specifically so they don't go all arseways improvising, and no weird cuts in the middle of songs and all that. If it was just animation and the script of the musical, I think it would've been phenomenal and this video proves it! Thank you for giving us the Cats film that we wanted

I remember seeing the ads for the movie on tv and really wanting to see it. Then my 5th grade teacher showed us the movie and I've been obsessed since. Seeing it live as a kid 3 times, each time was sooooooo enriching. I love everything about this video!!!

I like how none of the humans question what this giant group of cats are doing on the train. Also, that coach-driver was just fine with the Jelicles following him around.

Everyone is so expressive, the characters are so lovely?? It baffles me how one can effectively make background scenes in pieces like this work so well and feel so natural, who is doing what and all in ways that don't detract but add so much for eagle eyed viewers, this was just a treat. I may be parroting but this 100% should be picked up by a group of like-minded folk. Imagine that..

EXTRAORDINARY!!!!!

While I understand that adapting this musical into a feature film would be no walk in the park because the musical doesn’t tell much of a story. It’s really a series of different songs and dances with a little hint of a story. So while that works on stage, not so much on film. But recently I watched the 1973 feature film version of Godspell. As I observed, it too doesn’t tell much of a story. It was really a series of musicalized versions of parables from St. Matthew’s Gospel but toward the end it briefly retells the Passion. Whether you enjoyed the movie or not is your opinion, but I think what made it work on film was that it used a framing device. After a short prologue, the actor that was first in the role of John the Baptist, pops up in certain areas in New York City and asks a selection of people to join in the Baptism. The people decide to leave their ordinary responsibilities and then go to Central Park for the Baptism. After that the entire city is empty until the end. What if a movie version of Cats used a concept from Song of the South. Try to picture it; the movie starts in live action and an old timer, possibly Old Possum, telling the different poems to a child. The different stories would be told in 2D animation. Anyone else thinks that this concept could work? What are your two cents?
