Loved these guys. Saw them many times. Wish I still had their shirt. It was a big surplus army style collared shirt in a scrubs green with black silk screening on the back.

first heard this tune on brave new waves back in the early 80s. thought it was an original but heard iggy pop was the writer. love iggy and always will but i have to say i like this version better. that is not to say iggys wasnt good just not as raunchy with the guitar work....and here i sit in 2020 during this lockdown some 37 years after the fact and enjoying it just as much at 56. good lyrics..and straight forward, heads up,balls to the wall "rock n roll" will never die no matter how many other brands of music try to kill it. hey....if it works for Keith Richards then there must be some to it..

Johnny Zhivago (never heard of them personally) and Heaven 17! Not my kinda music but they were both clearly big fans of A Clockwork Orange, as they're both named after fictional bands from the record shop scene in the movie, so for that alone I have to respect em for their taste in movies! Now I wonder if the other 8 fictional band had their names adopted by real artists or bands. Real horror show!

Same, after I randomly got told that Heaven 17 were named after CWO, I had to check if the other fictional bands names were used by IRL bands.

A pure 80s gem, especially if its named after a fictional clockwork orange band.

Yea I loved the movie when I finally got to see it as a teen (IIRC it was banned in UK shortly after cinema release, lol, pussies), and I think I loved the novel even more (saw film first) because of how old it is, yet how strangely relevant it is today (major rises in youth violence, gang violence, rape, drugged up disillusioned teens, abject failure of the criminal justice system as usual, the disgusting looking council estate ghettos clearly designed to breed a generation of hateful violent youths etc, its almost prophetic ffs!). The other night my old man told me Heaven 17 were named after CWO, I cant remember why he said it but I knew I had to check to see if there were others too. Turns out there's also Johnny Zhivago! Anyway surely the novel & film are much more relevant now in the last 20 years than they were in the 50s and 1971 which shows how genius the whole thing is. Their fictional future London is just like modern day London and UK cities in general, minus the crazy gang outfits and judicial brainwashing programs!

Yes, seen them there but also at Benjamin's IIRC, though Playground X was more likely to be at Benjamin's and JZ or Monuments Galore would be at The Albert.

Thanks for posting this, I used to love these guys. They were really quite good at the time, a bit too "pop" but talented and fun to dance to with an entertaining live act. They had a nice mix of covers and original songs. Zalman (the lead singer) had a good voice, unlike other popular bands in Winnipeg in the early 80's that just shouted, you could actually understand the lyrics.

I remember this video very well! If you ever find the original with the credits, I'm the silouette at the end!! This vid was done at the old channel 13 Public Access station. I was dating the guy who did the majority of this video!
