This is a great interview... To be honest, I wouldn't find this video unless I searched for it... And I only searched for it because I just learned today that The Agonist has ended. 😢 Yes, I'm almost 1 year late. And how did I find out? Well, I was considering to buy a microphone, which I'm gonna use for doing vocal covers. So I went to KZbin to check out Vicky's gears. And then I saw her new music with the new band and it made me wonder about her current state of career and what's going on with her life, etc. So glad I found this interview. I never think of taking my musical skills seriously. For now it's just a hobby to go through the day. But I guess I should follow her advice. Nothing's gonna change without hardworking...

We are as gutted as you about The Agonist but we LOVE Sicksense too. Vicky is an absolute icon and brilliant at whatever she does. Go and follow your musical career though, sounds as though you should be brave and go for it!

Very nice discussion - much appreciated by a middle aged Yorkshireman. I agree with your comments on the Annette albums (not the re-recording idea though) fortunately they played half of Imaginaerum at Wacken 2013 and filmed it with Floor. I have 2 t-shirts, but they are used as wall decorations - this way text placement isn't an issue. 👍🇬🇧

So lovely to hear someone give words to the same feelings I have for NW. About Sleeping sun: I was under the impression that Tuomas was asked, not sure if it was the record company or someone else, to wright a song for the upcoming solar eclipse and not for the Eurovision song contest. I might be wrong though.

And about Angels Fall First, quote from Tuomas himself; The funny thing about Angels Fall First is that it was only supposed to be a demo to send out to record labels. But then Spinefarm heard it and thought it was perfect, so they put it out as it was with no remixing or anything.

Josh is probably my favourite modern guitarist and songwriter, he is definetly up there, what i will say is his style didnt mesh with architects well at all. Hes far more influenced by thrash and death metal, all him joining architects really achieved was nearly derailing sylosis and stopping there momentum and i would rather a musician do 1 thing well than 2 things half heartedly.i meen cycle of suffering was good but for me you could hear the dip in creativity there from dormant heart and there previous releases.

He’s top class… and maybe that’s how Josh felt in terms of wanting to focus on Sylosis we would imagine. I think he brought a lot to the party for Architects but totally agree he’s best placed in Sylosis which he’s clearly more passionate about.

As a reviewer it is at the very least your due diligence to know about a band and listen to their catalog. You have failed to do that or even attempt to.

It's pretty clear that you guys have no idea what 7D's sound is or what they're all about. This is why deathcore folks shouldn't review albums with actual singing and melody.
@knreal

This is a perfect response. I know things are subjective but you can’t go off of one album from 99 and say this is trash lol. 3 decades of these guys and they are forced to change it up or else they wouldn’t have 14 albums lol

LOL🤣 I'd like to see these 2 dudes write 14 albums and then have someone compare their 14th album to their 2nd album. Wait that's obviously not going to happen🤣

This is the worst review I've ever watched. For true fans of this band, we are able to truly enjoy this and see it for what it is. They've been doing it for decades and still make awesome albums like this. You can't compare 2 albums that are 24 years apart and not take into comparison the multitude of albums in between. Shameful

The arrogant, snobby air of the English accent combined with the arrogant, snobby opinion is not an appealing combo at all. Might want to learn how to leave a critical review without resorting to just bashing the thing you're reviewing. Especially when that 'thing' has a very diehard and loyal fanbase as you can see by these comments that are certainly not going to take kindly to such an ignorant stance and opinion. Definitely not going to win over any new subscribers to your already abysmally low subscriber count with this one. Good job, mate.

This is a pretty harsh review. How can you go from listening to one of fourteen albums released in 1999 straight to this and act surprised? They grew up. That's what happened. There are a bunch of great records in between then and now. You haven't even listened to Animosity, which just blows my mind. Damn, you have missed out on some great classic records. Animosity, Seasons, Alpha, Cold Day Memory, Kill The Flaw, and - in my opinion the best of the bunch - All I See Is War. Great records with lots of depth and soul to them, each with their own character. Yes, there have been some "down moments" (Next, Hope & Sorrow, Black Out The Sun and even Blood & Stone, if you ask me), but never have I heard anybody say an entire Sevendust album flat out sucks. And, honestly, I don't think this one will either. Some other reviewers have given it pretty high ratings. I think you just don't understand the band, because you were never even fans of the band to start with. Please, do yourselves a favour and go listen to some of the albums released in between 1999 and now, and maybe you'll see that progression you seem so confused about. They grew up. And their lyrics are some of the best in the genre. Horrible review. I hope you stay away from reviewing them in the future, because they work really hard and deserve more respect than this.
@knreal
@knreal Жыл бұрын
I am not sure how you can review an unreleased album and compare it to one of their albums from 1999 and not hear the next 11 albums after. Just some Sevendust history for you and I advise that you sit down and listen to those albums. After their 4th album Seasons, their main songwriter left the band until 2008. During that time the band had 3 records without him which made their sound change a bit. 2010 he rejoined the band with Cold Day Memory. That album brought back their core sound but brought more melody as well. Since then they have been staying true to their sound while taking different avenues. Now, I have not listened to the entire album as it is being released 7/28 here in the states. The 4 singles released so far are very commercial sounding but this band can do it all. Take some time to listen to their whole catalog. I have been listening to these guys since I was a kid so the progression of the band shows. Having said that, not every album is going to be a banger with hard riffs and aggressive vocals.

I feel really sorry for people who spend their energy and time on making a review on something they don't like. This is pure hating, nothing else. And you have listened their last album from 99? It says everything. Good luck with your remarkable channel.

About the creative freedom the band was granted, LP just did an interview on Apple Music today (or yesterday) and said they were pretty much granted the ability to do whatever they wanted after Hybrid Theory and the music execs didn't try to meddle with the band at all the entire time of making Meteora unlike with Hybrid Theory.
