I am related to Sufjan, a distant cousin. I too make music and hope to hear him perform live some day. I don't know him, but we share our Greek roots. This song resonates with me as I watch so many areas of American life declining. Growing pains in this country continues. I'm starting to feel like this country will never actually reach full maturity..

My aunt died of cancer over 10 years ago. Her birthday was on the 4th of July. She was only 30 years old when she passed. In some ways, i think this song was made for her.
