What do you use to get such good close-ups? I'm still relatively new to ant catching, and I'd love to have something that lets me get detailed close-ups for those species with tricky-to-identify queens.

It’s polyrhachis something (you can tell because it has spikes between the thorax and abdomen) I would say probably polyrhachis daemeli, vermiculosa, hookeri, phryne or rufifemur.

This video was one of the best ant videos i’ve ever watched!! camerawork and narration are on point, it tells a story while also focusing on smaller details which only a loving and curious antkeeper notices. Truly a masterclass on the “nest move” video formula, i’ll rewatch it a few times these following days

My carpenter ants got a new home for xmas and the queen moved in last night. Not nearly as eventful as your move. But the workers did have to drag her out of the old nest.
