Orca's are a threat to the great white shark population? GOOD! Who cares, but the college boys who think we need more wolves and grizzly bears.

Thank you for your hard work and effort to preserve our marine birds and animals. Unfortunately the culprits are not in your audience and chances are that they never will learn from their mistakes. I walk Franskraal beach often and not only the fishing lines are a threat but the dogs chasing the black oyster catchers where they breed are really unnecessary. Almost all the owners will tell you their dogs don't do anything harmful, but they don't consider the birdlife and the precious eggs that are always at risk.

This looks unethical and dangerous for the shark. Isn’t there a reasonably high chance it could hit that cage and hurt itself?
@MarineDynamicsTours Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. It is important for us to be able to answer these concerns. Our bait handlers have many years of experience with shark behaviour. We do not attract sharks in a way to allow them to bump or hit the cage for dramatic effect. For more information about our operations and ethics around shark cage diving, please visit this article on our website: bit.ly/2YVQ13D

In the mid 1970s, we were aware of this in Kleinbaai. It is surprising that many folks did not even know about orcas here, despite the many info boards erected by CapeNature decades ago. But people play on their phones and do not notice whale activity.

Not that we need a themed day as a reason to celebrate penguins, frankly every day can be, or should be a penguin day. World Penguin Day encourages people to appreciate these incredible flightless birds, take note of the plights they face every day, and learn about how important they are to the ecosystems. Sadly, the African penguin populations are dramatically declining due to several factors, including climate change, pollution, and lack of fish in the ocean. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has listed the African penguins as Endangered on its Red Data list. Their population continues to decline, with just approximately 10,400 breeding pairs in South Africa in 2021. The Marine Dynamics Conservation Trust promotes awareness and conservation measures through the penguin nest project and critical rehabilitation efforts. It is going to take a collective effort to ensure that their extinction doesn’t happen. Here are a few ways to help penguins every day, all year: · Invest in a penguin home dict.org.za/donate/ · Re-think your consumption of seafood. Overfishing is one of the biggest causes of penguin deaths. wwfsassi.co.za/sassi-list/ · Support penguin conservation efforts · Study up and learn about the birds’ habitat so you cannot disturb them. #NOOW #Everypenguincounts #Everybirdcounts #Worldpenguinday

Hi. I have a quick question. What is the cage time that you offer?
@MarineDynamicsTours Жыл бұрын
Hello Pankil The cage time depends on the shark activity. Our crew will make sure all the guests on board will get a fair amount of diving time in the cage. This is wildlife we work with and a bit tricky to specify specific timings. Our vessel can take 35 guests and the cage can accommodate 8 - 10 guests. The trip duration is usually 3 hours out at sea, also depending on the shark activity.

Need more Orcas to cull the sharks
@ortezchambliss3189 Жыл бұрын
The PACIFIC NORTHWEST will never have a SHARK PROBLEM like California, Mexico, or the EASTCOAST because the PACIFIC NORTHWEST has 3 different TYPES OF PODS & two different types of ORCAS. So you will not really see GREAT WHITES go beyond SAN FRANCISCO. How many orca pods are in the Puget Sound? three pods The Southern Resident Killer Whale population in Puget Sound is comprised of three pods: J, K, and L pods. Along the coast of the Pacific Northwest, West Coast Bigg's killer whales number around 400 individuals. They have a vast home range which extends from Alaska to Northern California, and with a tendency to be continuously on the move, it's difficult to track every single whale in the population year-to-year. In the Pacific Northwest one group of killer whales feeds exclusively on salmon. These are referred to as “residents” because they remain in inland or nearby coastal waters. A second group, known as “transients,” feeds only on marine mammals which includes sharks and rays.
