I am originally from Oldham, and have seen these lads several times performing throughout the borough. As they say, you can take the lad out of Oldham etc... etc.

I have to agree that is sad to see old ways overtaken. I came across your comment while browsing round and enjoying listening to the Oldham dialect and accent as spoken and sung by the Oldham Tinkers. I was brought up in the area but now live with the heathens down south. There was a feature on TV recently about the death of Cockney spoken London, so it's not just in Oldham.
