My grandmother and grandfather were born in NY in 1946 & 1944. I like to listen to old radio shows and imagine that they once listened to or heard these same ones.

The 15 minute weeklong serials were among the highlights of the entire OTR age Bob Bailey was a tremendous radio actor and some really good writing made Johnny Dollar the best. Among so many fine episodes this one really stands out as both an exciting adventure and a heart tugging Christmas special Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I love hat Watson's two dogs in the first episode are named Monty (for General Montgomery) and Willie (for Churchill). Just a little detail very cleverly slipped-in to conversation!

😮for me, the music drowns out the voices, the music is just as load, and many time louder! Or blends in with the voices. Someone did a bad job, can't listen so I'm moving on .

The first story is the most implausible Sherlock Holmes story ever written. Certainly not even based on anything Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have written.

What is meant by "Jack Benny vs Christmas shopping"? I always thought "vs" meant versus. So when I read the title, I imagine Jack Benny fighting Christmas. Kind of anti-Semitic, eh? Does "vs" mean something different these days?

When you use it that way as the title suggests, it means he can't handle it or he put that to be funny, but he isn't physically fighting Christmas shopping. He put it there because of how much jack Benny goes to through this all, especially when he is yelled at. Need a further explanation?

That was a wonderful toast by Jack Benny to the boys fighting in Europe and Asia. He did so much to make their Christmas a litte easier
