Oh, so that's why there were 3 locomotives... I was thinking that Santa might have been naughty and put on a little too much weight over Thanksgiving!

Well done video. My daughter and I were there at Rochelle also and went thru those 3 deep lines at G3. The plane and the Amish at the end was pretty cool too. Thank you for sharing.

Short lines still rule. I miss the paint wars of the 70s. Now it brown or gray pretty much.

If the tracks are out of service from Salem on into the St Louis on that line where do they run the CSX from when it comes through olney?
@RKRail21583 жыл бұрын
The grain train comes from Vincennes and stops at Olney to drop off empty cars. After the cars are full the train goes back towards Vincennes.
@truckerkevthepaidtourist3 жыл бұрын
@@RKRail2158 oh okay so that's how that does it does run across 50 but now stops there at Olney down working consolidated barge be and then that's it? Cuz I know tracks have been out of service for quite a few years once in a blue moon they run a storage thing through it but I remember you know years ago it used to run all the way straight through the St Louis almost parallel to us 50 and i-64 and I know that's the line but I just wondered how far it went because I know everybody's talking about turning it into a rails to trails because of the fact that there's just no business. So I guess we'll just have to see I know CSX still owns it but I wondered where how far it came to cuz I knew that was the line that went straight through to St Louis. But I know for sure Lebanon O'Fallon and all those towns in the St Louis pretty much basically west of Olney. Thanks I appreciate it
@RKRail21583 жыл бұрын
Yes the tracks have been out of service for a while now. Some times cars are dropped off at Flora and Bridgeport, but the main use is CGB in Olney. Only the East end of the Illinois sub is used. There has been a recent rumor of it being turned in to an east bound only route from St. Louis to Vincennes. But that's just a rumor.

@@RKRail2158 well at least about right wouldn't be too bad it eliminates some of the traffic on the other CSX route out of St Louis but then again... Don't know if the people of O'Fallon be real happy again but oh well. CSX does on the track and they can make the call. Although I know the track speed is very slow before they put them out of service when they did run full trains between they never really had a fast speed for about the last 10 years.

@@RKRail2158 Indeed it is, I spent many an hour there in my formative years. Last time I was there (2 years ago) it seemed so much smaller than I remember it being in my youth.
