@ what country do we live in? It’s disgusting that we pander to one small minority with 0 representation for the actually country we are in. I’m sick of it. Aboriginal flags everywhere, welcome to country’s, every second suburb or street has an aboriginal name, Australian culture is being smothered as these lies are forced upon us and our kids. Shame

@PaxtonNgugi My point is there is soooooo many things for aboriginal culture it’s everywhere!!!! We are the only country that flies two flags on all federal buildings. It’s divisive. We are one nation and we should be united under one flag. Not to mention aboriginals aren’t a race of people, but a collective term to describe multiple different tribes that migrated down to Australia via a land bridge from Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, India etc. These groups of people spoke different languages, had different cultures and would kill each other if they ever came into contact with each other. They had no flag, they weren’t a nation. Now we are supposed to call them First Nations? It’s all a lie. They get huge government handouts and benefits everyday Aussies don’t get. My family were migrants from Europe and the Middle East. I don’t get any government handouts? Why do they get preferential treatment? Enough is enough.

How exactly is this propaganda? This isnt even trying to divide people, or put aboriginals above others, but just acknowledging, and celebrating their history, because up until the 1970s, aboriginals were still neglected as people, and there are still large amounts of people alive who support racism, or see aboriginals as below whites. The 9pm show didnt particularly even spread a message of division, and was more focused around unity, healing, acknowledgement, and hope. Anyways, the ABC is generally one of least unbiased of broadcasting networks, and the only major network which doesnt have a right-wing bias. Also, this didnt mess up the timing, because it was planned, and the start of the soundtrack was just looped at the beginning of the radio simulcast. This probably isnt the right direction to take, and they should bring back the family fireworks, but calling the ABC a joke for doing something which a large portion of the country thinks is right, is not ok.

But massive respect to him for doing it live. He sounded great, but it was clear he knew his limitations. With all that said it was cool to see he was having fun!

This isn’t being racist it’s just not the right message for NYE. I have been in the company of many great indigenous people including Benita Mabo so I have a lot of respect for indigenous Australians 😊
