A very tragic, but beautiful, story. A little Old Lady has one last request granted to her, by this Gentleman buying one of her Paper Roses. Then, she goes outside, and tragically falls to the ground, dead. But-What she experienced in that last moment of human kindness, touches my heart. If only we'd all be so loving and kind, to help our fellow human beings, our neighbors, and everyone we come into contact with. This life would be so much better, if we'd look past any differences that we have, and just learn to be kind.

my step mother use to play with this fella in pictou county when he was around. she had a cassette tape recording of him. I grew up listening to his music. she sadly passed away in 2008, and the tape was lost when my father himself almost passed away in a horrific car accident. I'd love to get copies of a cd or something to give my dad something back and one for myself

This is very disappointing compared to the original version by Australia's Kevin Johnson, who actually wrote this song.

The first time I heard this was on an old 8 track 50 years ago when it was new. We played that poor thing so many times we wore it out! Still remember every word like it was yesterday. My fav Stompin Tom song of them all I think although "The good old hockey game" & The Lumberjack song are also right up there.

I find this song to be the most home felt song I've ever heard, It sounds so lonesome, I likenet it to Johnny Hortins "Wispering Pines song' . love it dearly. I used the first two lines as a Gospel song. I have no silver, no diamonds or Gold / But I am far richer by the treasure I know.. ...
