I'm happy to have found your video a little by chance. I have to admit that I've been completely in love with Minidisc for a few years now. I'm glad to see that it still surprises and interests people. I own several dozen players and a few MD decks.(I also own a dozen albums, but the prices are too high. I only buy them when I can find them for less than 30 or 20 euros.) I'd like to add some information about the anti-skip system and the buffer: technology has evolved a lot over time, and more recent devices, like the Sharp MD-MT270H released in 2003, spin the disc for about ten seconds, and then the player runs for about 1min30s without needing to spin the disc. In short, I've never had any problems using it while jogging!

The great thing about these mics is that they use AA rechargeables so you don’t have to worry about the internal battery bricking it. The Senheiser actually stopped working suddenly about a year ago. Apparently the FCC took back the radio frequencies it operated on. To be fair it wasn’t Senheisers fault and they did give me a few years notice that it was going to happen.

Great video, one question, unless I missed something, once the mp4 files are in my PC, can I burn to a DVD ? Thanks so much . KB
@DIWHYDOTLIFEАй бұрын
While DVDs are not a great way to archive data (shelf life of about 10-15 years), you certainly could burn the .mp4 files to a DVD which can be played on a computer, some newer DVD players and PS3, PS4, and PS5. I wouldn’t recommend making a video DVD due to limited authoring software options. I did recently find DVD Styler which looks dated but sufficient for Mac and PC: www.dvdstyler.org/en/
@videocaptureguide4 күн бұрын
If you'd like to make a DVD-Video disc (the kind that you put into a DVD set-top box and it just plays) then you will need MPEG-2 video files instead. But more and more people have smart TVs where you can insert a USB drive and it will play the MP4 files.

While it "works," the quality is obviously not up to par with other methods out there for a little more expense (or it could be that the test tape you have there is just very poor I suppose as VHS can and should look a lot better than that in most cases. Would agree with others that you get what you pay for here. My suggestion would be following this tutorial here with one of their recommended capture cards, either the Startech or Datavideo options: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpyQn2p_odeLf5Y I'd watch a followup video where you compare the results you got with that capture setup to what's recommended Oldskool PC's video. I'm not saying his method is the best possible way either, but it's probably decent for the budget involved. Next upgrade beyond that would be using a VCR with built in line TBC or adding a DMR-ES10 or ES15, or you might also try the DV capture method via DV camcorder passthrough or using something like the ADVC-100/110. All are decent budget options that should blow the quality of this out of the water and are worth seeing for yourself.

Would it be better to use a vcr with hdmi output and use a hdmi capture card? Those hdmi output vcr upscales the vhs tape to 1080p. This seems to be better for modern displays.
@DIWHYDOTLIFEАй бұрын
@@JoshOsRocks I didn’t know there was such a thing. Upscaling an SD signal off of VHS isn’t going to improve the image, it will simply make the videos larger in size and file size. If you can find a cheap VCR with HDMI output, it would be a more future-proof way to go as HDMI isn’t going to fade away anytime soon, so from that standpoint it does make sense.

I would recommend to set a higher resolution. Pal Secam was 525 lines, and not 480. To choose 480 literally means: to make compromises in quality. Sure, i know, that those 525 very likely get distorted by the analog nature of the VHS. But still. That distortion, plus 480p are additional levels of quality loss. Its not necessery to put as much quality-loss-levels as possible on each other. Espescially when the connection isnt S-Video.

Can you measure the output of this set with a light meter? That's valuable information. LED's come in many options and power Lux Levels.

Once again, Thank you for your DIY Originality. "To Create is Devine" I'm trying to DIY build a powerful enough LED that I can put into my Photo Softbox as a modeling light with Flashes or Speedlights. The Ring shape does seems to be the best shape in order to spread the light evenly through out the Softbox. The Current LED Ring lights are just not powerful enough to give me enough light after the Diffusion after 3 feet At ISO 100. Since 99% of the Speedlight / Flashes don't come with Modeling lights built into them, I need an LED Solution that can kick out enough Light / LUX - at about LUX 5120 - 7200. Do you have any ideas about this? Or am I ask too much for a DIY project?
@DIWHYDOTLIFE2 ай бұрын
Yeah you’re going to need something really bright if it’s going behind the diffuser. Is your light box square? I could see maybe making a thin frame around the front of the light box and using strip LEDs? Undiffused they should produce enough light, and I’m fairly certain the flash will eliminate most of any hard shadows the LEDs may produce.
@darrenbivings42272 ай бұрын
@@DIWHYDOTLIFE That's actually a good idea. I've been concentrating primarily on the back of the softbox instead of the front. I'm not too worried about any shadows from the LED seeing how the difference is going to be at least a 4 stop or greater difference in the light ratio at ISO 100 - 200. Leds start to expose at the higher ISO's. I've recently discovered that there is a AF Assist Beam on my Flash/Strobe trigger that sends out a crisscross pattern to help my camera autofocus in low light situations. But I would still like to create an LED Modeling light to help close the Iris and Pupil in the eyes down for better headshot photos. Large black Pupils isn't very attractive in headshot portraits. The LED light will help with that and help me know what the quality and of the light will be. How the Shadows fall. Modeling lights are starting to show up in good quality Flashes these days. I'm not ready to reinvest in newer shit just because. And besides, DIY Shit is Better. 😎 Right?
