Hicks' broken face was an instant trauma for me as a kid.

If you're going to make a sequel, don't ruin the movies that came before it. Alien 3 completely screwed up the perfect ending of Aliens. Such a massive mistake.

I just rewatched Aliens for the first time in years and it was the first time I've 1) been really effected by the relationship between Ripley and Newt and 2) been angered by the thought of what followed with 3. James Cameron said it best that it was like a slap in the face and undermined everything that Aliens had built up between the audience and the characters. It's best not to treat anything after Aliens as true canon

this ruined the franchise for me. I never saw another alien film. It was supposed to be Hicks, Ripley and Newt returning to earth or a space station... then an egg hidden on board the ship hatches and attacks a salvage worker/dock worker... and the horror starts again.

Aliens ended in a good ending but there goes Alien3 that really kills everything

I'm glad they didn't keep this angle; I liked the sense of separate roles/responsibilities on that ship, all professional and corporate.

Perfect casting decision getting Michel Biehn to play Hicks. He played him as a guy who doesn't say much but you know he knows his shit and is a great leader.

Seriously, how did the studio not realize the mistake they made by killing off his character! This level of stupid should he taught in Hollywood as a cautionary tale.

Ther are only 2 alien movies 1&2. This was a wreck. Could have been sooooo much better. Hicks needed to be in this.

Having hicks and newt alive in 3 was the biggest missed opportunity ever. The only issue was Carrie being too old to play young newt. Start the movie years after they left LV426 and that problem is solved. Also the alien egg being on the Sulaco makes me roll my eyes every time I see it. It would be much more believable if the xenomorph had spread in the years since Aliens and Ripley/Hicks have to go lay down the law after.

i just made my gf watch aliens with me, and she kept asking "is he gonna die? is she gonna die?" and i could only look forward to the moment at the end when she was so surprised how many people survived, only for me to tell her "they never make it out of those tubes" lol so dark

They could have at least had Ripley being the only pod jettisoned, Leaving Hicks & Newt alive on the ship, We would never find out what happened to them but hey at least they are alive.

Most underated movie ever, its class!

It has good parts, scenes, characters. But it 100% botches some major moments and overall plot. Hicks and Newt being dead is a massive botch obviously. But that aside, the primary problem with the movie is what is supposed to be the climax, where their whole plan of drawing the Alien into the smelter seems totally nonsensical. And there's just so many shots that are meaningless in that whole sequence. As well as the dialogue just dropping in quality massively during it, with poor lines "we're improvising" etc. It just doesn't read well the way it's edited and comes together. Whereas if you compare it to Aliens turret scene which is a similar type of scene, where they are planning on defenses to mitigate the alien threat and determine what routes are a threat etc. The Alien 3 smelter corridor scenes just doesn't remotely come off as if it actually had a plan or analysis, everyone just running around, closing doors, yes blocking off passages, but it's so poorly done.

The decision to kill off Newt and Hicks was pure petty ego on the writers , director, and producers parts . A nice little eff you to the audience , aren't we just so damn edgy . What a s#$t show .

I really liked Hicks and as others have said, Newt as well and was disappointed they were killed off. Aliens 2 is one of my favorite movies. 3 wasn't particularly good and I thought the 4th one was just way too much of a stretch and didn't like that one.

Alien 3 is the worst of the entire franchise.

There are only 2 Alien movies as far as I am concerned: Alien and Aliens. The rest can be easily ignored.

Is there any edition of the film that includes all of the deleted scenes? A directors cut? If there is none, why is that? I'd buy it.

Ahhh...... Alien 3.....the beginning of the end of a movie franchise. They begin with an instant classic with Alien. They follow up with a solid action movie with Aliens. Then the bed shitting begins.... And they've never been able to stop it.

Awful movie.

Fact is, when a character like Newt whos gone through all that and survived everything they threw at her, and then they just kill her off in her sleep... I menq how dumb is that.? It like she of all people cant be killed off. Shes the one that made it, thays how her story is told in the second one... She made it. And to kill her off is just very very lazy. You didnt have to kill any of them.. And yet they did.. But even so, she could have gone back to earth and it wouldn't have changed a single second of the story... This way it was just very bad directing and bad choice to make as it served no purpose whatsoever..

Killing off Hicks and especially Newt was a fucking travesty. Those characters went through hell and got knocked off like it was nothing. I call bullshit.
