I recently found your videos the other day and I love the quality with which you are putting them out. You’re so right about embracing solitude. I think sometimes we feel pressured by society to have many friends. Something as simple as going to a restaurant alone can feel awkward at times.

Thank you so much, Mohamed! I really appreciate your kind words-it means a lot. 😊You’re absolutely right-society often makes us feel like we need to have a huge social circle to be fulfilled, but the truth is, quality > quantity. Embracing solitude is such a powerful skill because it allows us to truly enjoy our own company. And honestly? A solo restaurant date can be so underrated! Great food, your own thoughts, and no pressure to fill the silence-what’s not to love?

I think I just bombed the interview it was online and going from 4:30 to 5:00 because there was winter storms in our area in southern people don't know how to do with storms so they basically closed the whole state for like 2 or 3 days. Anyways the interviewer seems pretty excited or either that or he was really good at acting cuz he was yapping a lot and he was talking really loud, it sounded like you were going off to a good start, we were talking about my channel because I thought it was a good idea to mention it in my experience cuz it is technically a business that I run if you can call it that because it is monetized and I do affiliate marketing, also he was talking about hours and it sounds like he was genuinely thinking of hiring me, and then he said that he was going to call my former boss and what she thought was going to determine if I got hired or not, but I already had a rejection in my box 3 minutes before the interview was supposed to end. I think I seriously bombed it, I sent a message to the hiring manager asking for feedback and I hope he can give me some good Insight on what I did wrong cuz I'm genuinely looking to get better😅 I respect him for rejecting me quickly though

I hear you-job interviews can be so unpredictable, and it sounds like you had a lot going on with the storm and all. But from what you described, you actually did a lot right! You showcased your initiative by mentioning your channel (which is a business-monetized, affiliate marketing? That’s real experience!), and the fact that the interviewer was engaging, talking a lot, and discussing hours could mean you were a strong candidate. The quick rejection stings, but don’t take it as a sign that you “bombed” the interview. Hiring decisions can be complex-sometimes, they already have someone in mind or last-minute internal factors shift things. The fact that you reached out for feedback is exactly the right move! It shows self-awareness and a growth mindset. 💪 Keep pushing forward-you clearly have skills, experience, and initiative. The right opportunity will come your way! What’s your biggest takeaway from this experience so far? 🚀

@ExplearningCo
@ExplearningCo 25 күн бұрын
What an incredible goal for 2025, Cyberla! 🙌 Becoming an empathetic communicator is such a powerful way to connect with others-and with yourself. Breaking the pattern of being judgmental is no small feat, but the fact that you’re setting this intention means you’re already on the right path. A great first step is practicing self-compassion. When we’re kinder to ourselves, it naturally becomes easier to extend that same understanding to others. Pair that with active listening and asking open-ended questions, and you’re well on your way to mastering empathetic communication! If you’re looking for extra support, tomorrow, January 8th, I’m hosting a FREE LIVE class in Explearning Academy on Developing Confidence to Continue a Conversation. While it’s not directly about empathy, the skills we’ll discuss-like building meaningful connections and listening deeply-can help you achieve your goal. You can RSVP here: academy.explearning.co/ Here’s to a 2025 full of growth and deeper connections! You’ve got this! 💪✨

This is a gem! Working on breaking the habit of ending conversations too early because I assume people don't want to talk 😂
@ExplearningCo
@ExplearningCo 25 күн бұрын
Hi! Thank you so much! So happy you enjoyed this video! 🎉 I love the self-awareness - recognizing that tendency to cut conversations short is a HUGE first step. It sounds like you've got a touch of that 'I'm probably boring them' anxiety, which is incredibly common, even among very successful people! The video really resonated with you and that's fantastic. Let's reframe this and work on building that conversation-extending muscle. Here's what I'd suggest to help you break the habit: * Challenge that assumption! You're assuming people don't want to talk to you. Instead of jumping to that conclusion, try assuming the opposite. Assume they are interested! Most people enjoy genuine connection, and you likely have a lot more to offer in a conversation than you give yourself credit for. * Use the 'Golden Pause' from the video. Remember how I talked about that extra beat after you think the conversation is over? That's your secret weapon! Resist the urge to wrap things up immediately. Take a breath, smile, and see if the other person jumps in. You might be surprised how often they do. * Have a few open-ended questions up your sleeve. This is about being prepared to carry the conversation if the other person doesn't naturally continue after the pause. Think of a few general, open-ended questions related to what you were just discussing. For example, if you were talking about work, you could ask, "What are you most excited about working on these days?" Or, "What's the biggest challenge you're facing in your role right now?" If it's more personal, it can be as simple as asking about their weekend. * Pay attention to body language. Is the other person leaning in, making eye contact, and nodding? Those are good signs they're engaged! If they start looking around, checking their phone, or giving short answers, it might be a signal they're ready to move on, and that's okay, too. This is not a reflection of you! * Practice, practice, practice! Like any skill, extending conversations takes practice. Start small, with people you feel comfortable with, and gradually build your confidence. The more you do it, the easier it will become. You've already identified the issue, which is fantastic. Now, it's about implementing these strategies and believing in your ability to connect with others. You absolutely got this. I'm here to support you every step of the way, so keep me updated on your progress! Let's turn those assumptions into engaging, fulfilling conversations!

@@ExplearningCo Yes, I will work on strengthening that conversation-extending muscle and continue to work on challenging that negative assumption. Also, trying to ideate questions or topics of common interest to discuss instead of having only an ice-breaker and nothing else to say. Great idea to have a few open-ended questions up my sleeve, and read body language (e.g. open vs closed etc.). I have been practicing more recently but probably need to take massive action to take it to the next level. Greatly, appreciate your feedback Mary! You are a communication Angel 😇

i feel like I don't see people often enough to build a strong relationship. how often should I be seeing someone if I am just starting to get to know them?
@ExplearningCo
@ExplearningCo 27 күн бұрын
@@austinmattole Great question, Austin! Building strong relationships takes time, but it doesn’t always have to mean a lot of time-it’s more about the quality of your interactions than the quantity. When you’re just starting to get to know someone, seeing them regularly enough to build familiarity is important, but it doesn’t need to be overwhelming. A good rule of thumb is to aim for consistency. For example, you might meet up every couple of weeks or so, depending on both of your schedules. In between, staying in touch through a quick message, sharing something you think they’d enjoy, or checking in about their day can help keep the momentum going without feeling forced. The key is showing genuine interest while giving the relationship space to grow naturally. What kind of activities do you enjoy doing with others? Finding something you both like can make those meetups even more fun and meaningful!

In my Opinion - I’m still learning to set boundaries, didn’t know what that was before - it’s important not to end with the no. I love your three step thing therefore. Especially people who are learning as well that you will now enforce your boundaries - they will much more likely start questioning why or to get you in other ways if you end with the no.
