Hi dad

It's so cool to get hands-on experience with drones and cranes in a professional setting. I own a marketing and digital media agency and hire creators for traveling projects, but would love to have the gear in-house for my local team. There was so much to see at NAB Show and I didn't get to try this experience. Next year for sure! Thanks Caden for sharing your Aerial DP experience. I have a mini DJI drone I still haven't flown.

If we were managing the event we would have placed a comfort monitor, where the speaker never needed to turn back to the screen & also arranged for water at eh podium 🙂 #thoughtknit

I think you mean solid state drives… people haven’t used hard drives in broadcast critical environments for ages.

It is a LONG walk from the far end of the West Hall to the end of the South Upper Hall. I did discover the cool Tesla transportation on my walk back though! Wear comfortable shoes and have an agenda to map out the route!

WideOrbit should offer training for their product so that more people would be able to operate the software which in turn would give the client a bigger pool of potential employees to apply for jobs using WideOrbit. The software is a great tool for a major company.

Is Dirk Westervelt related to Dirk Vander Ploeg, a well-known 1970s singer who became a UFOlogist? Given people marry people similar to their parents or themselves, not marrying outside of the same class or ethnicity, and the same first names being passed down by families through the generations, you could be related. I see the publication date was 7/16/2022, but when was this presented? My research area is on the convergence of VR and traditional broadcast technologies so I was excited to view this. ATSC Planning Team 4 started talking about the potential of adding VR into the standard in their 2018-2019 report in the section titled "Future Video Formats and Services": (www.atsc.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/PT4-038r8-PT4-Written-Summary-2019-11-18.pdf), so I was hoping for an update of that research. I was surprised to see cardboard VR and PC based VR but no mention of Oculus Quest or the upcoming Project Cambria from Oculus/Meta so I wondered if this was a recording from a previous NAB show.

With all the new product announcements, I haven't really seen any new developments in low-cost 1-inch camcorders. Are they pretty much dead? You know, there are still some of us who need that 20x zoom (and yes, with servo) for real run-and-gun B-roll scenarios as well as event shooting from the back of an auditorium, etc. in a lightweight camera package under $10K. I hope that form factor doesn't totally go away.

Livestreaming is obviously not easy.... some more light, or a camera-operator who knows how to use his camera would have been nice. And a sound-technician who gets the volume right, would have been nice. Or is this completely made by interns?
