But the ending is unbearable, devastating. Maybe readers should be forewarned, not with any details, of course. But, yes, the writing is absolutely brilliant.

The Bee Sting, was a tour de force, simply amazing. The way he took the voice of each of the main characters , whether man or woman, and the ending, whoa!! It's one of my favorite books.

I agree! One of the best books -- I do love reading about surfing not to actually go surfing. Read it when it first came out. This book should have been on the list.....but a Pulitzer makes up for it! Loved it!

Ann new subscriber. My name is Karel I'm female and my mother was a terrific poet. She won some awards. I've written some myself. Nemo has a twin. My Charlie Harvey is a 12 year old Bichon 23 lbs. He looks like the clone of Nemo. I also have a Chihaua female who terrorizes him. I will check out Marie.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll look up Marie Howe. I’ve also committed to reading more poetry this year and poetry collections from cover to cover. If the collection is put together well by the poet there is often a rhythm across the book. I’m Australian and while I love British and American poetry (and other languages in translation) I’ve decided this year to discover the poetry of Australia … which I neglected through what we call ‘cultural cringe.’ I’m finding it so enriching to have my own language enlivened in poetry. Thanks again for the great video.

I read poetry daily, it grounds me, centres me helps me deal with my mental health by becoming involved in.gorgeous poetic language often transporting me into nature, granting me words of wisdom, strength and comfort. Hurrah for poetry. This is new to me, off to have a search now for the poet you mentioned. Love your recommendations, your passion for books and reading from all of you wonderful females. Thank you 🐕💖🐕

Hello. I just picked up my first Henry James novel. I liked the look and font of the vintage paperback of The Ambassadors so I bought it. It sounds like I picked up one the ‘impossible’ novels. But I read Joyce Ulysses, so how impossible can this one be? Just started yesterday, read the preface written by Henry James and was hoping you could summarize what he’s saying. Seems a bit difficult to comprehend and thought there must be a problem with the translation. …wait a minute, this was written in English.
