An IoT device is essentially any internet or network connected device that runs autonomously - essentially something that is setup and operates without constant user oversight (something that respond to commands and/or collects some sort of data). Examples of IoT devices include security cameras, thermostats, smart boards, video projectors, door locks, sprinkling systems, motion detectors, etc. IoT devices are notorious for not possessing strong security features, and therefore can be exploited to attack network services and devices. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise can prevent that activity. We securely connect these devices to the network by employing 'device fingerprinting’ (automatic device detection and classification)- and grouping all similar devices into the same service container. This prevents attacks from ‘leaking’ into the main network, in addition our network analytics will flag any misbehaving devices so the IT engineers can immediately address potential exploits. BTW.
