Prior to the Mandalay, I had and utilzed what's referred to now as the Python MKI not the II, in my taking of various assination mission's. Which I've now using the same basic loadout, have switched from the Python MKI to the Mandalay. After engineering it the same exact way. The Mandalay haveing a considerably better SCO interaction, a considerably better boost, and just plain faster over all. Take the assination mission's, get there, get in, do the job and get out before any of their associate's can lay a finger on me. But then I using only 4 turred engineered for long distance and overcharge as well as the two beam lazer, engineered the same. Have the ability to starting at six kilo's on their six, take out the sheild's before than can turn and close the distance they need meaning getting to the generally 3 to 3.5 when their weapon's become usefull. They blow up at or about some 4 k's. I don't wait for the graphic's, I do a right or left 90 away from any and all associate's they may have and simply boost some 525, times two and having a predertmine vector already ploted, jump to it. I realize the turret's do do less damage then a gimballed. But one has to take into consideration to the N-th degree their real abilities. Turret's when fired at someone's six, never miss and from some 7k away they do 100% of their total ability, at 6k, my lazer's kick in. When ever the most experienced pilot is mandated to use time to do a 180 to retailiate when they don't use turret's. My lazer's at 6k and cannon's starting at 7k with zero drop off. Generally destroy's them prior to their actually finishing a 180. But then I've only ever played in solo which mean's once one has learned how NPC fight which are not anywhere to the N-th degree the same as human's. My personable ability allow's me to take them out, and get out, with out so much as a scratch. Being able to to what I do at a distance, when NPC have to be considerably closer, gives me a considerably larger advantage. And even if the chase me, with the Mandalay having the boosting it has when engineered, can't come close to catching me. And alway's haveing a pre plotted place to go at the touch of a button. I'm gone in a couple of heart beat's. Unlike human's, they won't follow in you wake. As a human, I'm well aware of "HUMAN LOGIC" and in as much as it's totally illogical; Never play in OPEN. NPC's on the other hand, have only digital logic, once learning the math envolved in the use of their digit's. It's like catching fish in a rain barrel.

One will eventually because of what you've come to realize, that the highest possible jump range isn't always the best when it come to either exploring only for data and photo's, or exploring for data, photo's and the various surface's of object's. And managinging as you stated surviability. Where as one would desire a 100 ly jump range, which envolves having considerably lower grade module's and less of them. Having a jump range of only 50ly, cause's one to have bigger better modual's and more of them. The only difference is; While one can get somewhere in one jump, because an averagge jump takes less than a minute. One with cosinderably more survivibility will get to the same location almost a minute later. Exploration isn't in my opinon something that's a timed event, thus the addition's of even several additonal minutes to get to the same location as one with a higher jump range, become's moot. If they are constantly if fear of doing but one thing wrong and finding them selves at the rebuy screen. Loosing any and all of the data, photo's etc. not to menition the distance, when the rebuy screen put's you back in the bubble. Which made what ever they had accomplished using their considerably longer jump range to the N-th degree, 100% mooted. While I, with only half the jump range, even if and when making the same exact small mistake as the one with the higher jump range. Will admit, my ass may pucker, but the duration will leave, meaning my ass will still be out there. Finding a place to land, get out and kiss the ground and perhaps because I have the addition room for the modual, installed a refrigerator, with cold beer inside; Have a couple. LOL

@eliteengineerdaz And once there being able to go somewhere else and actually get there, rather than starting over from the bubble. Makes having a slightly less jump range an big advantage. I mean one having to get 100ly year's can do it faster, get destroyed and have to do it again. Thus though having a 100ly jump ability, still have to make two jumps to get to where I was, when it took me two jumps to get there. But by then, I've moved on to the next Location. When first starting some 9,000 hour's ago, I asked question's and followed the advice of having a max jump range. It took three trip's to the rebuy screen to realize, Having a less jump range, but a considerly better, more formable ship, which allowed me to survive, rather than do it over and over again and again. Learned that survivabilty is the key to succesfull exploration, not jump range. And in the thousand's of hours since, haven't been to the rebuy screen once.

Maximizing jump range isn't all that important unless you have an actual goal on a place you want to reach. I prefer not to have jump range over-optimized, but you get money for every new system you discover. If you are jump too quickly through a region, you might be missing more $$$ and discoveries of interesting things. If you are going to Beagle Point, maximize your jump range. If you are exploring a region that is mostly undiscovered, do not maximize your jump range.

Hey nice build! The only down side is less overall healing modules with the AFMU's, but they actually last pretty long, and the mats to refuel them are very common. This way I have an extra SRV and get about .4ly more range. I like the Idea of showing different builds for similar applications, like this build is for a more relaxed and less stressful journey, while the last one was more of an all out how far can you jump risk taker build, its good to show both because some commanders like to be safe, and others like to take risks and roll the dice for more jump range. o7

Yet another "max range with no survivability" build. The Mandalay is a very maneuverable ship, and it's also very unforgiving. One moment of indecision last night left me with 8% hull, and I have a much better shield. Jump range is pointless after doing a Commander Jameson landing. Don't take this build out into the black folks, you will regret it That should be obvious by the AX cargo rack on an "exploration build".
