I just got one in 3v for less than 100$. I'm surprised at how light it is.

A beautiful looking knife, if cold steel had used a steel insert between the steel tang and titanium liner lock, like on the al mar quicksilver, there would be no potential wear issues. I really wish cold steel would make a fancy ti lite with bolsters.

Hi, what kind of sharpening system are u use for so big blades like laredo?

classic case of geometry vs apex sharpness, you can get something thick behind the edge to shave hair but if you cut anything that binds, it will get caught up

I have both in stainless steel which is half the price of cpm and they are super sharp plus I got both for the same price as one in CPM 3

Unfortunately the current choices for the Laredo are Cpm 3v or stainless steel which I purchased for $145,It's half the price of cpm 3 V and arrived razor sharp,the others are apparently discontinued unfortunately,I love my Trailmasters in San Mai as well as my other cold steel knives ,I'm considering a cpm 3 V SRK that Midway is promoting for $99.95 ,which is a lot less than the regular cpm 3 V SRK that sells for much more

Ya kinda want that locking style to get stuck so it doesn’t fold while in use.

The talwar is a beast and has a unique design. The handle is very unique qith nearly an extended pistol grip, it really lends to lunges. The blade shape is beautiful with that big bellt towards the end of the blade but keeping the striaght spine. I definitely have to agree with you thoigh on the vaquerop xl serrated. I have it and its a beast. The recurve on it is nasty and just a slight catch or drag and thats an expensive medical bill. I also want to mention that the kris serrated ti lite is up there with these two amaizng knives. The serrations on that knife are lethal.

This has ben my everyday watch for the last 2.5 years.. Wallyworld was clearancing a blue face and a green bezel last january for $22.00. I bought both and they're sitting in my dresser draw waiting until his one craps out.. Im blue collar and these can take quite the licking and keep on ticking.. My mineral glass crystal is pretty scatched up but thats about the extent of it.. Id pay $100 bucks for 9ne of these if they upgraded to saphire glass and a ceramic dive bezel. As is they are a fantastic value for a rugged screw down crown 200m dive watch.

Hi Matthew, i got a question regarding your DIY serrations, the veff type ones. Sorry for asking this in "offtopic" video. I'm looking into putting those on some of my CS knives and i started digging about them on the internet. I've came across several posts about them, claiming they are prone to breaking, chipping when they hit something tough. Have you ever had this problem when doing meat cut tests, or when you tried to clear up some some greenery or small branches in garden/woods? What are your experiences? Thanks for answering in advance.

The bad thing about serrations in edc is that you cant work with wood - chop or carving, end of the video clearly shows that. And with voyager xl you'd definetely want to chop something sometimes - its acceptable for this task.

You might want to check out the JoeX video on the XL voyager drop point, and then the XL voyager Tanto point. I still like the drop point, however the tip fail decently easily on prying whereas the tanto was a bit more robust.

i got the same exact knife and it does occasiolnaly fail whit the reverse deployement technique,. the blade bounce and bypass de lock. Now im gonna have to test the lock lwith spine strikes like you did....This is worrying

CS needs to use that handel material on different knives. The Collossis would be a collossil castration knife. 😮

I wish that was still available, because I love big bellies and would be rockin' that sh!t son. I love my 4max scout, as well as the ad-10, and spartan, so I don't mind having biggies in the pocket, and actually prefer it. I also have a raja iii, so that similar blade/handle angle with its recurve is great, it's considerably smaller and not as extreme as the colossus, yet still very useful. Thanks for showing it.

I've been using these for years. I think it's time for Cold Steel to upgrade their Steel to Japanese AUS-10A. The Tuff-Lite is an awesome Worker. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

These are two kindred spirit knives. They both don't wanna go "long": the 4 Max then decides to go thick and indestructible, the Colossus goes wide and thin for crazy slashing power and fine cutting. Just too bad only one of these designs is still being produced. It's a shame because the Colossus would probably make a better large Edc for most people. However, maybe most people who like to carry bigger knives lean more towards robustness and prying a car door ability, so that's why the Colossus went the way of the dodo.
