oh my... i mean these are your tastes, and it's ok, unless you say things like objectively. Some nba teams in this moment are passing through this minimalistic trend that got thei brand absolutely worst. But beside the Suns and aybe the Grizzlies, who had an inconic color scheme, the 90s it's probably the worst era for all nba Teams. No, the raptors logo is no way better then the claw ball, no the Pistons Horse logo is not better then the classic simple logo. I only agree with the hornets logo, it's just a bad modernization, they could have done something waaaay better. What About the Hawks, you shown a great mscotte logo, and then you complain about the modern logo and not the 90's especially in that Navy red colorway, it's just a hawk, it's not a logo! The current one, wich is the classic, is the perfect minimal rendition of a hawk profile, that is what a logo should be. And the you complain about the "basketball with team name"... again a logo, especially a sport logo, should not be a freakin comic book character, the bolder it is the better it is, it has to be something appealing, simple, eye-catching and smart, but if you see only a basketball with a name, instead of a smart rendition of the Wahington monument, or a super classic logo redone, i don't know what to say.

In defense of my Bulls, they’ve had the same logo and mascot since the very beginning. It’s iconic even to those who don’t follow basketball. Only other team that I’d put in the same category is the Celtics. They don’t need to change because they’re perfect and no matter how much time passes the logos don’t age.

All of the comments that the new logos are "... just a basketball, followed by the team name", without really looking at the 'basketball'. For example, the Warriors logo incorporates the Golden Gate Bridge (or the Bay Bridge), the Wizard's logo incorporates the Washington monument. I was never huge on basketball but I was playing 2K25 with some friends and thought back to when I was a baby back in the early 2000’s my dad had a grizzlies and raptors sweater for some reason I remember them even though I was so young but they were insanely cool and it had me wondering why the NBA changed such cool logos. My dad managed to find his grizzlies sweater and gave it me which I was hyped about I love vintage sports clothing.

In a word, the answer is "no."

Logos do not necessarily need to be the portrait of team mascot. They are both part of the team identity. I do agree the logos nowadays are getting less creative and minimal, but to me they're just different styles according to design trend evolution.

some of these logos are legacy logos in the fact that they pay homage to older logos (pistons), or they’re the logo the team has used for decades (lakers, knicks). also, you’ve gotta be blind to not see the pelican in the pelicans, & the hornet in the hornets, 😂. i do agree though that nba logos, jerseys, & color schemes have been terrible the past decade & a half. minimalism is a trend that is ruining creativity and i miss the days of the late ‘90s, early ‘00s of the nba where boundaries were pushed.

I’m a graphic designer that specializes in esports teams and I couldn’t agree more. There are people that are far more trained than I, who produce worse logos. Creativity and personality that creates an identity is the basis of branding.
