These works remind James of the paintings of another painter but I cannot hear the name. Anyone can help me?

I aspire to do work like this. When I met Bill at the park armory show he told me that his technique took many years to master. I will have to keep painting to make sure I reach or come close to this level at his age.

the M&A installation at O"F is a only missing Jeff Koons explaining why the work is so important and aesthetically pleasing to the next millennium of art buyers hopefully purchasing with the latest crypto currency because the volatility of the art market will be echoed as in the ups and should we say the downs of the art and the crypto market. Would have been a great addition if the toilet was put on the bar painted gold and filled with Kool aide . Someone please Tell me iam wrong ... Fantastic space for this show wish James had mentioned the price of the small AK painting just to make that final statement about the intrinsic value of art in America Thank you JK for a great video love your work .

You failed to mention that the bucket piece is from the "Emporer's New Clothes" movement and is titled "Yet Another Dada Urinal." The Nora Sturges stuff is wondeful! Thanks!

Cant figure the D Salle paintings? Why bother... just a record of sales?.. the imagery and paint is not interesting, not one bit.

Thanks for both gallery tours, James. I agree w. what others are saying about Nora's small scale concepts - how it makes one get up close and immerse themselves into the painting. Thanks, and thanks Kate!

I have to say that for a moment there I really thought the Matthew Barney upside down bucket was something the decorator had left behind while he nipped out for a sandwich! I really like the small scale of Nora Sturges' work; it seems like quite a brave thing to do when many artists these days feel they have to produce a painting that will cover a whole wall.

You have got to be kidding! Can people actually be that gullible? Remember the Emperors new clothes! If i want to look at a bucket, I can buy one at a hardware store!

the Barney Katz thing looks like a total put-on, an attempt at being funny. Nora Sturges by contrast has made some amazingly original and beautiful work, what she said about scale was very interesting.

My artist wife had a show with Stuart back when he was in the LES. She passed away last April so I was looking up people she had worked with and was really shocked to learn of Stuart’s passing. I’m sorry we didn’t stay in touch. RIP Stuart.

Webster seems like he's riffing somewhat on a Thomas Nozkowski vibe as per the small but dense compositions. Longnecker is about as heavy as it gets w/o turning to mud.

I spoke briefly with the musician and asked if it was a vibraphone, and he said it was a glockenspiel!
@Elias_Halloran21 күн бұрын
@@jameskalmroughcut I like the more metallic chime-like and resonating sound of the glockenspiel then. Thanks for clarifying about which is which, this is the largest glockenspiel I have seen yet actually.

I've never been interested in glitter, yet this work is gorgeous, darkly sensual, intriguing. I've been watching the Majority Report lately because of the election, which is always intro-ed by saying that they're located "just steps" from that canal. So, now I've had a serendipitous look at where they are.
