The gloves can be avoided, if you soak the brush, squeeze most of the water out, and push some soap paste from the Palmolive tube into the tip of the brush. Start the face lather with that. No gloves needed.

In these Inflationary Times. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Use any hard Bar Soap, Tallow or Glycerin based Soaps out there? To fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like" (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) You can mix and match your old Soaps? Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. It saves me time and Money. Wheelchair Larry Happy New Year. Your Mileage may vary?

This is a very good overview. I own several yaqi heads: the mellon, the beast, the "top aggressive slant", the knight helmet, the scallop. For daily usage, the scallop turned out to be extremely nice. Not too aggressive but you still can feel the blade very well. The slant yields incredibly close shaves, and feels very smooth, but it is an extremely aggressive razor and you really need to be on your toes. I'd say it's en par with the ikon tech. Beast and knight helmet, not my cup of tea. I like the mellon quite a bit. It is mild but pair it with a feather and it can be quite effective. It also allows to use a cool-looking double-open-comb head without having a super-aggressive razor. I also own several of the color handles by yaqi, I find them all really well balanced and high quality.

I can not say what it will do for you but I find a good boar is less irritating than a two band with the sharp hair points. Boars as they break in split the hair ends ....makes them amazing . Boars hold heat better than synthetics and they don't hold the lather in such a way that they will give it up on your face. This is NOT the case Silver tips and two bands. I bought two bottles of kiss my face unscented from Amazon and they arrived in the mail today. I tried one and it’s super thin and very difficult to wash off your hands and face. And doesn’t work well. That is before I watched your video. That’s very interesting, but a lot of work. I’m 61 and I’ve never owned a shaving brush or shaving bowl. Too much work, too much cleanup. I ordered this product because Gilette ruined their foamy shave cream by adding a nasty stinky cologne. I thought it had gone bad because it appears that the expiration date is past. But the code is a little hard to decipher. I’m very disappointed in this product because I don’t want to use it right out of the bottle. And I don’t wanna go through all that work that you show in the video. I think I’m gonna throw it away. Wasted money. However your video is very helpful. Thank you for posting it.

I've been researching wetshaving for a while now so as to enter this hobby, and your videos, especially those on Yaqi brushes, have been really helpful. I liked your introduction to and demonstration of the PR index for brushes, too. Then I wanted to watch a more recent video from you and the last one that I saw on your feed was this one which is from 2 years ago. And, I've gotta be honest, I immediately felt uncomfortable thinking something bad may have happened that you stopped making these videos. So, I'm now relieved to see you still replying to comments below this video. Really glad that you're well. Let me tell you that I'm about to get that Yaqi purple haze brush as my first brush mostly because you liked it so much. I also read 2-3 of your replies here as to why you've stopped making videos, and as much as it makes me sad that I can't have access to that knowledgeable-uncle/mentor-figure essence that you brought to the wetshaving community here on YT, but I also totally and deeply relate to having been burnt out, and feeling like you've got nothing more to say. I know you have a lot more to say on other subject matters, maybe only not on this one anymore. I'm not a fan of gardening in them cups, though! Haha! Kidding aside, If anytime you made another channel on another subject matter, I may come and say "hello" to you there. @deshavetalkwithkit8935
@deshavetalkwithkit8935 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mel the ratio's on the borax and Arm and Hammer laundry Soap are about One third cup borax in a and 2/3 cup of laundry soap but the ratio's are NOT that critical here. Secondly the video was intended to be applied to a brand new brush right out of the box so you DON"T need to take a year to break them in through normal use. I don't like the smell of boar brushes and my break in gets rid of the smell in 36 hours. Now if you have a boar you have been using for a year the break in I use will NOT damage your brush but the question is how much at that point do you need to use my method? I would say this if the brush does not smell and if it has broken or split hairs and it splays well than you do NOT Need more break in but if not do the break in anyway it surely won't hurt the brush to do the break in ~!

I'm retired now and it's my favorite brush albeit a good amount of it is sentimental. Thought I would give the old boy a little break and have the heavy lifting done by a couple of newbies - an Omega Pro 48 and a Zenith Scrubby Chubby. The latter has a pretty stiff spine, but I like it- a lot! Again, thank you for that great video, your time and effort with the additional information!

I have the same brush but set much deeper, resulting in a shorter loft.
