congrats on your acceptances. could you clarify why your first IB grades pre exams were A instead of 1-7. I submitted my application with a 42 predicted 39 achieved in most recent mock exams but it’s not A or B it’s only number scale. does this put me at a disadvantage who are applying with As in the IB?

My school did not tell me my predicted grades so I could not tell you. No need to worry about number vs grade because colleges look at grades on a school-by-school basis so no, this will not put you at a disadvantage.

Well done. KA, Granada Charter top tier student getting into the usuals. SC is a good school. My daughter with a similar background just applied to SC too, ED. She is ranked #1 in her school but we are hoping she gets into UChicago or JHU. It also depends on what high school you are coming from. Her HS has Stanford, MIT, etc, acceptances. The Unis with lower acceptance rates at 5% or lower want more diverse backgrounds, non cookie cutter types. Distinction is key. But, every KA parent in Northridge/Porter Ranch would be proud of a SC doctor. Well done. With your chosen path, you need to be at the top 10% of your graduating class to possibly accepted into Keck which is not very good. Study hard. Keep your eyes on the prize and don't let your parents down! Stay away from the party scene in Ktown and at SC.😂 If you did your research only 14% of California undergrads matriculate into Med School. Out of state, is the best choice.

@@thediegosoto An alternate way to get the gallery view is to start a fresh new page and type in "/gallery" Then you want to go to the three dots in the upper right corner and under that click the "full width" switch to on. Tell me if it works!

How did you go about creating your own abstract and research project idea to propose to a faculty under BUGS?

I think the BUGS application is different now? I only had to write like 150 words. My application for BUGS was a lot easier since I already had prior family connections to a lab. Typically, you don't need to come up with your own research idea but you look for a faculty with ongoing research and you just go off of that.

Woahhh good job on getting into Cedars! Yes! Yes here are some general tips for the supplementals BUT stay tuned for a video showing my supps! 1. For the "fun questions" / quick takes really just be as fun / unique / personal as possible. Literally like for the supplemental questions I remember someone put like rizz or something lolll just be unique but also personal. With each question you want to showcase yourself as a unique applicant and an overall interesting person. 2. For the supplementals too, I suggest writing about a topic NOT tied to your personal statement. DO NOT make your supplementals a second personal statement but rather use it as an opportunity to reveal another side of you whether its fun or serious. For example on my USC supps I wrote about a blackpink concert I went to and its connection to my perception of my Korean identity. But like the fun questions, be unique, and distinct from your personal statement! Hope this helps ;)

w vid iosep! do u have any tips for high schools freshers in general? specifically regarding the ecs, when to start preparing for the SAT/ACT etc etc

Absolutely! 1. DON'T touch the SAT / ACT yet in your freshman year. BUT I recommend in your free time just start to get in the habit of reading. This will help you with reading faster/more effectively for your english + reading section. I've noticed in my classes that the most devoted readers did the best in the English + Reading Section. Read anything you want honestly, it could be fiction or nonfiction doesn't matter. I recommend preparing for the SAT around Winter vacation of your high school sophomore year. 2. Focus on getting situated in school, getting used to the high school environment and establishing good work habits. Have fun and make some friends too duh. 3. As for EC's, start exploring and joining some clubs + teams! A lot of people join teams late because "they didn't know they had ___ club on campus" So start exploring and joining! Also take this time to discover what you are really passionate about. Do you like origami? graphic design? making rockets? math team? Start to experiment and figure out which ec's you really enjoy and why you really enjoy them. (for a compelling college essay story) 4. Outside of school, do some crazy stuff. Obviously don't get yourself hurt but try out different things outside of school clubs and teams. While watching youtube, you might want to start teaching yourself to start a business or learn to play guitar. Leave room for wonder outside of school :)

Depends on your school! What colleges really care about is the hardest classes you can take GIVEN what your high school gives you. Depending on your progression and what your high school allows, just focus on taking the most rigorous classes that you ARE ABLE to take.

Congrats!! Just noticed that in some of the times you open Notion, you can see a password to the portal, for example with the one for Case Western. Just so you're aware, so you can change it before somebody does something they are not supposed to do 👀
