I bought the iTunes version and loved it and then bought the 4-track version directly from Matthew when I saw them in St. Louis so many years ago. That's one of my favorite memories. He seemed flattered, as much as his stoic-looking face might seem flattered. This song in particular was worth every penny.

@@murve33 I still really love Old Regimes. it's hypnotic monotone liturgy is really entrancing to me. Overall, Solos was too minimalistic for my taste, but I still enjoy it for the nostalgia -- and because Old Regimes is just relaxing.

The original album version is this clocking in at 5:55. Single versions often soften the complexity of longer trackers ("When Doves Cry", case in-point). The song in original form does feel a lot "fuller", doesn't it?

I dont care how much I read, their aint enough reading to understand Professor X. After I heard Fire and Earth, I was like, "What is this dude saying?" When I saw this I was like there is not way I can take a whole album of him. 30 years later, it is a breath of fresh air.....Funny how time works on your musical tastes.....
